English and Russian pages of Sevmash. It is funny Russian mock-up has Migs and Indian one has HAL Tejas.
Btw, this might be off-topic but is there any other shipyard where Russia can build an aircraft carrier for Russian Navy. It seems sevmash will be quite busy with all of these projects. They have to build Borei class submarines, Amur/Lada class submarines, Graney class submarines??, oil platforms and floating nuclear power station. It seems Russian navy will have to wait a long time to get a new aircraft carrier if they dont have another big shipyard.

They don’t build conventional subs. The carriers are going to be produced by a new building line anyway.

Yeah they were suppose to go on trial by last December end.

Compared to the Borei launch and relaunch official ceremony and selected leaks of pictures , the Russian are keeping the Yasen story closely wrapped.

Pierside trials started last December. This time they choose to carry them out inside instead of taking the boat into Suhona drydock like Dolgoruky.

What radar? The same Fregat radar as the rest of class? The only new thing i see is the Gibka SAM and new ECM suite. What capability does the Gibka add?
Are some of the Kinzahl removed to give space for the Gibka? Is it possible to add longer range SAM on the Udaloy? Stihl?
What about the Silex missiles? I thought production of these missiles stopeed long time ago and only a handful available. Did they fit Kulakov with Sunburn? Should be an easy job to replace the launchers and command system.

Kulakov is the second ship of the class. Fregat and Kinzhal was never instalated before. Gibka is sitting instead of forward Kinzhal FCS. Gibka is poor-man’s RAM.
Upgrading her to 11551 standard is not worth the money, the ship is 29 years old. What is called Silex by NATO originated as RPK Metel and evaluated in Rastrub-U. The later is still available.

Anyone have a new pick of the Kulakov? Any chance they installed anything new on him?

Kinzhal SAM installed with single command module, Gibka SAM, Fregat radar, new ECM suite.

It’s Kirov itself. Lazarev is still in Pacific.
Nakhimov went to shipyard in 1999, doesn’t mean it’s in overhaul since then. Actual overhaul started just a couple of years ago. 2010 mark is BS.

A simulated hangar space (with a couple of aircraft, like on deck) plus class rooms I would think.

There’s similar building which France built for testing De Gaulle EM compatibility

It says no where that the ship is to be built in France IIRC, which implies it could be built in Russia. Perhaps the main purpose is not so much to acquire such a ship, but to a shipbuilder in Russia up and running and capable (oncemore?) of building ships of this type and size. Considering Moskva, Kiev and Kuznetsov class ships were all built at Nikolayev, Ukraine.

Nope. France will sell the unfinished third hull. Whether Russia will build more – wait and see

Opening negotiations for a potential sale is not quite the same as approval for an actual sale. We’ll have to see where this goes. Still, given that the French were among the first engage in miltech deals with russia (TI sights for BMP3, IIRC), an interesting development.

TI sights for T-90 as well. This will end in a white elephant. If the ship will be sent were it belongs – Pacific or North fleet it will be ruined in 10 years at the most. If it will stay in Black or Baltic Sea – what’s the use of it? launch major assault against Ukraine, Georgia or Lithuania? They are crazy…

ok any chance that this could just be a crazy ass museum or something. Go up top and see great planes and feel like your on a carrier.

Another version of the concrete nimitz

Why should they need one near a major Naval research institute?

Is Lada going to be fitted with VLS? Or only tube-launched cruise missiles? And if so, can it fire Yakhont?

    No, yes and no.
She is out on complex trials again judging by the years of induction of serial boats they expect trials for at least couple of years more, because Kronshtadt can be launched already next year (judging from how complete the hull is on photos).

This is next doors to a University. Quite a lot of unwelcome eyes and mobile phone cameras. Interesting that photos are showing up only when the thing is almost finished…
