PLAN has allegedly received its first Zubr from Ukraine. I guess they will find a place for it but it still seems to me that whole deal is way less useful now than it seemed 10 years ago. It certainly took long enough to get to fruition, since the signing.

I guess the Taiwan scenario (or any other island in china’s vicinty) could still benefit from such a craft, but overall it is just a drop in a bucket of PLAN’s capability and future needs.

It was handed over but still stays in Ukraine for training of two crews. Looks like first two will be taken to China at the same time.

So Furke-4 and Poliment are two different radars? Is Furke being used as a stopgap till Poliment-K is ready?

Furke-4 has the same role as SMART-L in relation to APAR.

Nice to see Furke-4 finally on the top, hopefully it will perform better than the smaller sister. As well as slightly modified Puma.
Missing main gun (has not made even to test range yet) and plank-wood Poliment probably will not prevent the ship from sea tests.

A-192M renamed from Armat to Kartaun (17th century 48-pounder).
Mooring trials now scheduled for March 2013, builders sea trials – November 2013.

^^ nooooo way…how can they do that without the French technology. The whole of Russian shipbuilding is doomed without the French technology that is to come with the Mistrals.. 😉

Btw, how are the ships going between Caspian & Black sea?

    Volga-Don Channel.

Regarding the claim that Russia does not have a drydock @ Sevmash big enough for a “large” carrier:

Technically, that is a launch basin not a dock. No cranes. No block building.

5 to 7 months for repairs. That seems quite a lot of time to replace insulation and bricks in 3 boilers.

Very cool, first footage of UKSK use in Russian Navy, looks like Kalibr.

Yes. The official account says that the missile hit a land target at 180km.

Since the ship will undoubtedly be going into dock for serious work, I wonder if Russian Navy will allow the use of Kuznetsov again for MiG-29K training to make up lost time.

That may be unneccessary. I’m under impression that delayed the return for repairs in order to finish the flight tests.

Thanks Snake65. The bold part is the one I have a question about. Does it imply that the boilers were under warranty and hence the Indian side will not have to pay for the repairs or replacement of the boilers?

No, the costs are on Russians, either on the designer or the producer or both.

There are two types of asbestos – definitely cancerogenic amphibolous asbestos, which has been banned and chrysotilic asbestos which is soluble and therefore much less dangerous as it doesn’t accumulate in the lungs. The second type is not banned by the Rotterdam convention and is used in US, China and Russia. India nevertheless requested “no asbestos whatever”.

Vik still is capable to make 23 knots under 5 boilers which was the reason to continue the flight tests and repair the boilers later.
The designer of the boilers has stated that the warranty period was only 10 months () and the designer and the actual producer of the boilers Baltiysky Zavod are disputing who is responsible and will have to pay for repairs and delay fine, if any. This has nothing to do with Sevmash shipyard or India.
