Not sure it is a radome, could well be a satcom antenna. There’s some more interesting unknown lattice structures on that ship, behind that dome and between the ak630’s an main mast.

That’s a satellite TV aerial, donated by Stupino municipality. The lattice structures are Spektr-F laser emission warning system.

To be prefectly honest, it is the FAR EAST. It’s not really Russian. That land was originally part of the Chinese Empire before being stolen by the Russians.

Just as Europe remained European after the invasion by the Huns and Turks, the “Russian” Far East will remain East Asian long after the Russian invasion.

OK, OK Asia is Chinese Empire. Could You just stop flaming and say something on thread subject?

    Swerve: +1
That’s exactly what she is – helicopter carrier an flagship. Use of F-35 will require serious internal modification.

And I know what to call them. Start with – Kaga, Akagi, Soryu, Hiryu, Zuikaku, & Shokaku. :diablo:

Aren’t these names under unofficial ban in JSDMF?:D

It’s not hard to get Vikram before IAC, as the building of the later hasn’t even started properly and Indian shipbuilding is well known for prolonged building periods and delays. The latest example is P-17 frigates.

Nice Pics , The Palma looks like a ideal 1:1 replacement for AK-630M

    Had a couple of questions

1 ) Has the RuN ordered P-650 or P-750 subs or are they planning to do so.

2 ) The P885 yasen SSN ( Severdovinisk class ) is designed by which design bureau , The Malakhit or Rubin ?

How do the two design bureau compete , Do they have a competing design for new class of SSN and the better one is selected for RuN or its just purely one sided affair based on MOD wishes and the clout these design bureaus enjoy with MOD/Political Leadership

    1) No.
    2) Malakhit
    Rubin – SSBN, SSGN, SS
    Malakhit – SSGN, SSN
    Lazurit – SSGN, SSN

    Hi
I found these pictures whilst trawling the net.

    http://www.subpirates.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2106

Is it An AGI ship or an experimental vessel?

It’s a test ship for testing sonars and torpedoes, Project 1824.

snake65 , do you have some information/data on P-650E submarine designed by Malakhit Design Bureau , It looks a very interesting sub with interesting ideas like shrouded prop and aft of sail VLS launcher

How does it compare with the Lada SSK

    Thanks
    Austin

Well, it compare’s to Lada as being much smaller:D
57m long, 6.4m wide, 760 ton displacement, underwater endurance 1200 miles, 20 knots submerged, 9 men crew + 6 divers. The tubes in the aft are for mines, not missiles. A larger version P-750 has 4-8 tube VLS for missiles, but that’s a sub already in Amur-950 class. These subs, also P-550 are evolutionary designs of Pr.865 Piranya.

For the next 10 years Russian shipbuilding will work mostly on SSBNs and smaller surface ships like 22380, everything that is left is going into export orders. Some shipyards are going to be relocated, some significantly upgraded. They will not be able to put serious amount of money and effort in modernization of ex-Soviet fleet, Ochakov is goin to be the only exception, but it’s going to be more of a testbed.
Actually, I wonder if China is going to order any more surface ships from Russia, and I doubt India as well:cool:

Well, it would be a nice complement, in between AK630 and Kinzhal (SA-N-9), bringing them closer to the Udaloy 2. What are the chances that they might swap some SS-N-14 for an AShM (or do they carry 2 Silex versions 50/50?)

Rastrub on Udaloys has 50/50 of anti-ship and ant-sub missiles, so they are going to keep them.

Austin, details on Soviet smaller CVs are sparse. In 1985-1986 Severnoye PKB prepared two projects of 12000 ton CVs: monohull “Merkury” and cat and trimarane “Delfin”. They were to carry up to 12 Yak-41. As the ship length for all versions was 150-180m, CATOBAR for them was never considered. The designs were cancelled with the cancellation of Yak-41.
Actually, if Yakovlev finds a customer, the Yak-41 program may be revived quite quickly, on the same schedule as MiG-29K, for instance.

Really … has this put on any other Udaloy?

Not that I know. But it might be done during mid-life upgrade, as Altair is massively pushing Gibka. At the IMDS-2007 I learned that it has optical tracking feature and uses Puma radar as FCS.
