Apparently, happened already in late July, but tests of aircraft were continued, as she was able to make at least 18 knots. If the ceramic material was not at fault but rather sloppy workmanship under time pressure, they will just have to repair the insulation on the 3 affected boilers.
My understanding is it returned to Baltisk under its own power on September 4th?
Yes, but on 6th.
It’s in Russian, but that’s about all that is known.

The fire started from the diesel generators and some fuel accumulated there? The fire extinguishing system got everything wet and that meant they could not get on their own power. It sounds confusing, but nothing else unfortunately 🙁
She was on anchor in Danish port, half of her crew was not on board. The most probable scenario is the fire starting in diesel generator. Diesels in generators are usually used only at 30-40% of nominal power, so unburnt fuel residue accumlates and it is recommended at least once a month to “burn” it by bringing the Diesel up to nominal power. Diesel generators are located in the empty space of the “stack” where the exausts of main Diesels are located. I suppose they managed to “flood” the control systems of the generators and they were not able to engage the main engine.
Relax, it’s the same one. And yes, looks like a modified 052C. Wait till we see all the details. 😉

Is the Glavkom pulling things out of his exhaust port?
We may see something at the StPetersburg Naval Show next year. 🙂
…and ‘Yuri Dologorukii’ returns from sea trials ahead of his scheduled induction into service on the 29th (Navy Day):
Introduction delayed by several months. Speculations say – Navy is trying to push back the introduction because the Vilyuchinsk base is not ready for 955.:diablo:
Any news on status of hull?
Rumours say that sections 1 and 3 have been constructed up to the main deck. Hard to say how much of the equipment is inside.
Gaiduk-21 was labeled as Project 58200, currently built corvette is Pr.58250.
It looks like the radar arrays and wiring haven’t been installed yet, and I doubt they’d fire a missile from an under-construction ship. They may be testing the system on land first as is done in the West for Aster and SM series missiles.
Redut has been tested on land already. It has been tested even in sea on Soobrazitelny. The key element is the Polinom which, probably, has passed the tests on land. But to test it in sea you need to install it on Gorshkov. Period.

New structure around the Gorshkov, though progress is still slow.
Picture is from May 2012. Almaz-Antey report says that at least a prototype Poliment has been produced for testing. As the tests are scheduled to start in November something should be on the ship already. Need to wait for more recent pics.
Come on guys! Somebody runs a Chinese FFG onto a shoal and nobody has anything to say about it?!
Usually that is a career ending event for the captain and navigator…
And she was freshly modernized, nav systems up-to-date… Is the area poorly charted or what?
I thought a basic AD fit was part of the contract?
Well, it is. Currently consists of a couple of PK-2 decoy launchers 😀
If I knew that I wouldn’t be posting here.:diablo:
No, just touch-and-goes
😉
^^ Snake, what do you mean by that?
You haven’t seen the movie Titanic with DeKaprio and Winslet? 🙂
