So what is this radar, it looks like a phased array?

    Judging by the time-set, I’d say it’s a close relative to Mars-Passat.

I realize what perhaps only the three newest have enough life left in them to warrent refit. What I don’t understand is that one gets a RAWL radar, the other Barak and a new ELTA radar, and yet another gets Brahmos DLU. None get a complete refit. Why not take the best 1 (o 2 or 3 ships) and do a complete refit? Piecemeal installatoins don’t add up.

I guess India is using them just as evaluation ships 😉

Is there going to be a comprehensive refit of some Rajput (rather than the current bits-and-pieces approach, with a radar here and a missile there)?
Will it be possible, worthwhile to refit P15 with same VLUs as P15A (for Shtil, assuming P15A will use these)?

Rajputs are quite old, Barak and Brahmos is perhaps all that the 2-3 newer ships will get.
There’s ample space to install VLS Shtil on P-15. The same goes for 3 Talwars. The question is – does India want it, and if yes, when Russia can supply it.

Here is one more of that vintage, 10230 Tur small ASW designed in 1981, also bears close similarity to later Boras

This is Project 10210 Bison Large ASW ship, design started in 1977 and cancelled in 1983 (this answers your question about radar, Roel).
It’s a sceg air cushion ship so Bora is a close relative, nevertheless this baby is much larger at 5-6 kt. Top speed 50 knots.Interesting feature is the large helipad enabling both helicopters to operate simultaneously.

Certainly not hysteric, just very impatient 😀
    MLU= midlife upgrade
And last, if Russia will have a lot of money for Navy, I’d like to see this project revived :diablo:

Chinese are not that old. Russian Sovs of course will receive no such upgrade.

    Calm down, Leonid Ilyich! 😀
The electronics and weapon suite of 22350 right now is highly speculative. It’s possible to say more or less sure that it will have single barrel lightweight 130mm gun, 2 Kortik or Palash CIWS (may be Palma if that one is ever ready), 9M317 or 9M96 missiles in VLS and some Oniks AShMs in VLS or inclined tubes. Anti-sub may comprise anything starting from 91R and Medvedka and going to Paket-NK or Udav MLRS. Sonar suit may be Zvezda or Zarya. There will be a Fregat MA3, depending on if the brand new and very secret Furke radar will be ready, it may be the main radar or just a backup like SMART-L. Furke is tentatively described as Russian APAR, but I guess it might be closer to EMPAR, as I’m not sure that current state of Russian electronics will be able to produce powerful enough active modules for APAR. True, they have active arrays for fighters, but they are still in prototype stage and of course not nearly as powerful as necessary for a shipborne system. That’s it for now, mainly guesswork and a lot of what ifs. 😎
Yes, and the picture is fake, just to illustrate the concept. :dev2:

Its diffucult for me to uderstand why tomahawk with the the half of Yakhont’s size has range of 1850km and Yakhont only 180km!!!! I accept that Yakhont is supesonic but it should have at least 600km range. With this range 180km only the missile is completely uselless. The vessel should be too close at the enemy fleet. Such short range weapons are usefull only as air lanched! Before I said that I like Yakhont but should have greater range, more than 400km for being effective.
    Some questions:

Is Brahmos or Yakhont nuclear capable?

    Any details about the GRANIT-2??

    Don’t worry, be happy :diablo:
Tomahawk has the same range as Granat cruise missile because they have nuclear WH which are much lighter than conventional WH (300-500 kg). Oniks (export designation Yakhont) has no officially confirmed range. 300 km of Brahmos is just because of international agreements.
Granit has nuclear WH, Oniks may have, Brahmos officially will not.

Is possible for “boreis” SSBNs to carry Yakhonts in their 650mm TT? Somewhere I read that the Vanguards SSBNs carries sub-harpoons.

955 will have only 533 tubes. Perhaps you wanted to say 885 Severodvinsk?

I think the Granits are getting upgraded. It may be earlier on the thread or somewhere else, but the articles said the new missiles Nakihmov would be getting were also planned for the Pr. 949 Oscar IIs- that means Granits.

That means nothing. Granit may be changed to Oniks, for instance.

Where did you find this photo? Lobov is in good condition. How much is the range of Vulkan? More than 600Km? I wish the new pm Yanucovich to help the Russian navy to take this valuable unit.

    The photo is from http://www.shipyard61.com.ua
Vulcan is rated at 700-750 km.
