There’s a new book, 2006 edition, “Severnoye PKB – 60 let s flotom” (60 years with the Navy) which mentions these themes. Note, they are not Projects, meaning that Russians didn’t design the ships from Alpha to Omega. 😀
Are you sure about that? If the ship has SA-N-12, MA Fregat and Mineral ME radars, the Russians would have to help at least by obligation to the installation and support of these radars and missiles.
Oh my god  . Severnoye PKB (designer of most of Soviet/Russian surface ships) even has Theme 968 and Theme 988 designations for 052B and 051C. So, no help whatsoever from Russians :diablo:
I repeat the question about the forth slava. Does China itents to buy it ? What is the present condition of the ship? any recent photo?
I don’t think China will ever buy it. The reason – what ASM will You put on it? Russia will not supply Bazalt or Vulcan because of international treaties on non-proliferation of medium range missiles.
The ship “Ukraina” (ex Adm. Lobov) is nearly 90% ready and I guess Russian Navy will take it. I’d like to have some info about bargaining between Russia and Ukraine on price. :diablo:
As I remember Ushakov suffered from “nuclear accident” did Lazarev suffered from the same problem? Why they put her into reserve?
Sorry for my repeat but does any one have information about the new misile system of Nakhimov? Granit 2?
No, Lazarev didn’t have any accident. Simply, she was due to have owerhaul, meaning she had to go to Baltic or Severodvinsk, as their are no such facilities in Far East. The funds were short at that time, so she was put in reserve till better times. New missile on Nakhimov may be limited to installation of new SAMs.
There are so many new systems on 052C that there are a lot of factors, not necessarily powertrain, which might have screwed up.
Russia has some not so recent and also quite fresh experience with CODOG arrangement on 1239, 1166, 1124. This experience no doubt was available to China.
they will be faster… :dev2: :dev2:
what happens when you put Ladas engine to Mercedes Benz???
You get an A-class Mercedes :diablo:
Adding that couple of knots isn’t worth the cost and trouble if not required specifically by operations.
Altough the gas turbines in 052B/C are improved ones (tough still ukrainian) compared to the 113, they are still underpowered and for example the ships top speed is only 29 knots.
So what? Are there any fast CVs to escort? What tactical advantages will appear if their top speed will be 32 knots instead of 29?
has anybody seen this Russian airbomber of the picture below???if someone has informations for this aircraft please tell me
Russian TV 1st channel documentary “Fifth generation”, AFAIR in 2001 or 2002. Allegedly Tu-180 or Tu-202. Undoubtedly, some design studies were carried out, as there is a still showing also a model of S-47, so it’s not totally fictionary.
Sorry for my repeat but does any one have recent information about “admiral Lazarev” the second second “Kirov” ? She will be scrapped or modernized?
As she is in “reserve” for about 15 years and in nearly the same state as Kirov, most probably she will be scrapped. Too many systems to be replaced, to be viable. 🙁
She looks like a scale model of a cruise liner. :diablo:
Before all these fightings with sferrin, someone metioned about a project 1293 strike cruiser nuclear powered alternative to slava I think that this is what we talk about.
No, this is an early project version of Kirov (Project 1144) before introduction of Granit missiles.
You’re always in trouble if You miss.
I’ll really appreciate what You can find on YF-17. In such a case, is F-18 also to pull it off? What I’ve seen it’s not even close to that.
Loosing rapidly speed = loosing energy = loosing the fight
Energy is Life 😀
So, You never brake during dogfight? Or never make turns? Never evade missiles? You depend solely on BWR and chaff/flares?
Which is an absolute useless combat maneuver… Airshow Stunt :diablo:
Not totally useless, it’s good way to bleed Your airspeed very rapidly and still be in full control of the aircraft.
Besides, never seen any photos or trailers with YF-17 doing this in 1970’s. Sean, could You supply some?
So I presume no pics of the 12930 studies have came out yet?
On another subject, I wish there’d be a list of the various Soviet 1980s ship projects that never left the drawing board (11780, 11990, 12930, 13040 etc.). Projects new to me seem to be popping up every now and then. So far I haven’t seen a(n even remotely) comprehensive project number listing.
Be patient. There were many projects which never went even to drawing board. Some of them which did were built as models, some were not. Most of these projects now are being revealed by design bureaus as their classified status is being removed. 😀 There is a just lately published book on 60th anniversary of Severnoje PKB design bureau, unfortunately, they are not talking much about never-been projects, there are books by Kuzin and Nikolsky and some others. To make such a list will take a lot of digging 😮
