Sorry people 😮 I was meaning Projekt 941 which has two chambers. Of course 971 has only one. Both 945 and 945 have also only one chamber.

971 has two of them. DeltaIV is actually an evolution of Yankee so it doesn’t have it. (too much modification to be done to the command section perhaps).
I have no reference for actually built boat with turbo-electric drive and for instance admiral Burov’s book on Russian shipbuilding doesn’t mention any experiments with such drive.

Ah, so 949 does have a rescue chamber! I thought so comparing its sail to the Sierra’s, but never found a source to confirm this suspicion.
It’s standard equipment for Soviet third generation nukes.

Neptune, don’t expect too much NEW information from Taras. Mostly it seems to be a compilation of information dating back to 2004 and older. 😉

Taras is a well known compilator :dev2: He has absolutely no idea about the topic – to mix up Shkval with Kit,that’s really something. I saw those crossections in Pavlov’s book issued in 2001 :diablo: Taras says they come from Shunkov’s book issued in 2004. 😀

Yes it is, but Taizhou is apparently the name of 137. This picture comes from one of the newsletters I subscribe to, in a later letter, two days later, they put the name Keito, together with an article on the helicopter operation.
Hyperwarp, Light Bulb is not the same as Band Stand, the big one is Band Stand, and as Snake already mentioned, the one aft is the Positiv (don’t know what the NATO designation is for that one), the light bulb are the small “ball” shaped things, on the side of the funnel. These are satellite links, while the Bandstand is the Guidance radar for Moskit and Positiv for Kashtan.
Russian name for Band Stand on Sovs is Monolit. It’s AShM guidance radar which has active channel with OTH targeting mode, passive channel and datalink for target data input from aircraft.
The radome on top of hangar is Pozitiv search radar for Kashtans.

According to announced characteristics, modernized Il-38 is more like combination of E-2 and P-3. It’s supposed to control also surface and airborne targets as well as carry out ASW. So this radome may be 360 degree coverage PAR for surface and airborne targets.
