Nice link Austin!
Saw some interesting details. I translated a few things. The pop up camera, and interchangable size tubes were interesting as well.
Thanks!!
If I am not mistaken, the creeper motor picture looks like the one out of my book on russian submarines. Lifted my picture? Sneaky they are!
The text line below the creeper says – Creeper motor of Pr.971, similar to one used on Pr.955, courtesy Sevmash produced documentary.
Thanks. I believe the closest Western counterparts(albeit smaller) would be the Visby class mini-corvettes. Do these also have composite superstructures, or just aluminium?
The only all-composite superstructure is on 20380. The new MCM 12700 will have also composite hull.
AK-630M.
What was the Reason for the earlier problems with Bulava missile?
Lousy manufacturing quality control.
RU sure? There are 2 pics now showing the Kuz with AC, each from a different angle but the same number and location on deck. This would suggest a series of PS-jobs, if you are correct. Enlarge the small pic to similar size as the earlier hi-res pic TR1 posted a link for and compare.
No, I’m not sure. But I don’t like the fuzzy look of the aircraft lined up along the island, compared to otherwise quite sharp Hi-res picture.
was Yekaterinburg housing a 360deg, arched or partial array?
Skat-BDRM, cylindric array, digital signal processing.
What’s PS-ed? (Pic 2 seems of the same series, pic 1 and 4 a bit earlier, without A/C, but taken around the same time. Pic 3 just for showing it is a common angle for a photo shot)
Aircraft are PSed.
Not a model.
Just a bit of PS.
Logical move, as the same is proposed for 1144 cruisers.
Wow!! I didn’t know Yasen was bigger than Borei…
It’s not bigger, just more expensive. Allegedly, Yasen is all new build, first Boreys use a lot of left-over from unfinished 971s, therefore are cheap beyond reason.
Supposedly, her boilers were replaced with new ones… whether this was an actual remove&replace job or merely a rebuild with new burners/injectors/internal parts/etc and control systems is still unclear.
Actual removal and replacement. 9 new boilers were produced by Kirovsky Zavod, 8 for installation on board, 1 for training on shore.

Weird.
Kvochur imitating landings.
Which? I have never heard of the first batch of ten (that were extensiely photographed @ Pilot’s for example) being Syrian examples.
I don’t remember exactly, perhaps it came up in a discussion at VIF2.
One stupid question. Where are first ten Pantsirs, that was in parade in 2010 and second batch of Pantsirs from parade in 2011, if those ten now are first ones? Wouldn’t they be around Moscow to work with S-400 regiments?
They were re-painted exports to Syria.
There was a shortcut and fuses blown causing some smoke in the sub which was considered serious enough to abort the launch and return to the base.
Believe or not, up to you 😉
