What is the system mounted on the Gorshkov frigate model displayed at the show? Palma or Pantsyr?
Palma
So, back to my original question: Modernized Kashtan, beefed up Palma or altogether new system?
New system. Which shares some elements with Palma and Pantsyr.
Delivery of the Indian Navy Missile (BRAHMOS) Frigates for which a contract was signed in 2006 will be delayed, delivery date unknown and cost over run of $100 million. Rosboronexport has been asked for this sum.
This is old news. The slip is 6 to 12 months. The money will not be milked from India. Compared to Vikram or Scorpene this is peanuts.
Exactly. This is just a showpiece. A compilation of Kortik-M and Pantsyr-S1. The exhibition model was made from Palitsa model, by deleting bottom missile quadpacks. The end product will have lower base and the missile control radar will also be positioned lower.
Severomorsk, as always.
Not exactly. For the last years it’s usually moored at SRZ-35 in Roslyakovo. But anyway, that’s not too far away from Severomorsk.

Latvia will seek compensation from NATO if Mistrals are based in Baltics.
/facepalm.
NATO should donate them couple of german 206 submarines, USN v-adm was complaining recently that their defence budget is too low. And their whole budget will go to the drains.
Hi Snake65, do you know what radars and datalink system this one is using? My friends have been debating about that for weeks if it’s using Garpun-Bal or Mineral-ME 😀
34K1 Monolit
Project 11661 corvette
Furke is operational. The problem lays in the fact, that it’s not exactly suitable as target acquisition radar for AR radar.
The superstructure is definitely flimsy, nevertheless, it is able to support Kortik. It’s just the question of structural strengthening at the right points….

There are two additional factors which were leading to quite disastrous performance of boilers on 1143 aviation cruisers compared to other steam-plant ships of Soviet Navy.
First, 1143s were underpowered for their size and enrgy requirements. This was leading on necessity to operate boilers closer to the maximum output most of the time, which calls for high qualification of BCh-5 operators.
Second, there was insufficient infrastructure for 1143s at Soviet naval bases, they didn’t and still doesn’t have dedicated piers for mooring these ships, causing them to stay on anchor off-shore and constantly using the resource of their powerplant for producing electricity and heating.

Have you seen the figures how much of the previous plan was actually built? Let’s have a look just at Borei. The three currently in building/working up are produced with significant input of Soviet-time left overs. They have not laid down the fourth unit yet. And you seriosuly consider they will have eight in next eight years? Come oooon..
That figures looks more realistic , so it mostly they case they are hampered by production capabilty of their shipyard , though money is not a problem. Hence more money is not always a solution to a problem.
They would perhaps be funded for their goal of 100 ships but there is not way they would be delivered by 2020.
Well you forgot to add the 4 Mistral class to that list.
Only 2 anyway;)
In fact, in some lines a may have been too optimistic. A lot will be clearer by the end of 2012.
