Actually they did. They took my money without asking me whether I wanted to give it to the Vulcan or not. They did that to the vast majority of us didn’t they? Or didn’t the lottery grant actually happen? 😀
Regards,
kev35
Well if you’re silly enough to play the lottery then you deserve to have your money given away willy nilly! 😀
And there was me thinking it was discussion forum.
Hurn, that quote of mine has been taken out of context and was in response to Kev35’s point of about ticket subsidies.
Yes but the facts are they don’t get any subsidies so it’s all a bit of a moot point really.
Like Peter says, (and has been repeated here many times before) at the end of the day you can donate or not. There’s no-one taking your money by force or through any kind of Vulcan tax, so I often wonder why people get so worked up about it. 🙂
Every other act pays its way, why can’t the Vulcan?
Let’s just deal with facts for a minute.
It does pay it’s way and receives no subsidies from airshow gates, the Government or the MoD.
It gets money from various business and industry sponsorship, merchandising, display fees and from public donations. End of.
IS there a Vulcan effect or not? In the end it doesn’t matter as they get no extra money from the shows themselves anyway regardless of the amount of people who turn up through the gates.
Airshows are free to choose who they want to display. If they choose the Vulcan then it’s because they feel the public want to see it and pay for the display accordingly.
No, you can’t prove or disprove the so called Vulcan effect, just like you can’t prove or disprove that the Vulcan is taking donations away from other aircraft.
That’s about it really. 🙂
Any heads up on a departure day/time for Yeovilton this week please?
Also nice to see the Vixen and Gnat up and about together on Saturday night too. 😎
Saw a Notam for an air display in Lymington around that time and presumed that’s where they were heading?
Spotted a Sea Vixen and Gnat doing a couple of circuits over Hurn airport before landing tonight. 😀
Just in case anyone was concerned. 😀
We are happy to report that a permit to fly renewal application for XH558 has been approved for the next 12 months.
Permit was due to expire this week and has been secured in a timely manner.
According to what I’ve read, it’s going to be painted with the FMK-O code and in the RAF training scheme that it wore at RAF Driffield.
Well about bl**dy time! 😀 Glad it was worth the wait!
I’m still waiting to see it this year!
Heard a rumbling prop earlier today. Thought it was going to be a Herc but was surprised to see an Electra flying out of Hurn. 😎
Probably the Atlantic Airlines one.
Well I hope Sky High made it to Margate cos 558 did!
He’ll probably say it was rubbish now! 😀
That is truly amazing, and testament to her excellent condition and maintenance.
Completely agree and all very positive news. 🙂
After that its Saturday 2 June at 7:00pm.
Intriguing. A display somewhere?
Good old British weather eh! Drought, don’t make me laugh!
Anyway, hope you finally get to see it ‘Sky High’ this weekend.
Great to see it fly, but that was some pretty shoddy camera work there! 😮
Congrats to the team involved though. Will hopefully catch it at a show sometime wearing it’s new scheme. 🙂
Just roared off again a few minutes ago.
I think PK mentioned he’d be on the flight today as they were doing a full airtest. Stuck in the hole no doubt. 😮
Nice pics btw Andy. Must get myself a decent camera soon.
Fridays newsletter said they had enough money to cover overheads for the next six weeks.
“However in the short term, we are in real danger of running out of cash before our plans come to fruition. We have just enough to cover our overheads for the next 6 weeks, but right now, have had to cut right back on any development activities because we simply do not have the cash.

What happens after that is anyone’s guess.
