There was talk about Jonathon Whaley retiring next year, although I don’t know whether he’ll pass the flying displays onto someone else. Ben Murphy was also flying Miss D last year so perhaps he’ll take over?
I’m sure we’ll get news when he’s made all his decisions.

Not sure what happened with the Vampire, but it was fit enough to fly home with the Meteor around 5pm yesterday so the issue couldn’t have been too major.

Big disappointment with the Sea Vixen though. Obviously it was unfortunate that Matt got called away, but a civvy operator relying on a serving military pilot really isn’t the best combination imo. To miss your home town show like that in front of a massive audience is just terrible. Just wish Brian Grant was ten years younger….

Sea Vixen not flying either due to pilot availability. Think the flypast is scrubbed now. 🙁

Fuel leak apparently, which must make Leuchars doubtful next Saturday considering they heave to get the leaking fuel bag out, repaired then put back in and tested again.

I saw the Meteor and Vampire both go up to display.

Yeah and apparently the Sea Vixen is having issues too and possibly wont fly either. 🙁

Jonathon Whaley has said at the very least he hopes to fly with the Meteor and Vampire, but I’m staying put at home now and just watching the show from afar.

The Lanc was heading back to Bournemouth, after I believe displaying at Dartmouth. Came right over the house here too.

I have been very fortunate to see (and hear) the BBMF flying around here multiple times these past few days as they’ve been based at Hurn; not to mention the B-17 Sally B, a Meteor NF11, DH Vampire, Hawker Hunter, Sea Vixen, Jet Provost, and hopefully I’ll spy a Vulcan tomorrow too.

It’s been an interesting few days round these parts. 😀

Yes, they’re calling it the Heritage Flight. Originally it was just the Sea Vixen, Vampire, Meteor and Hunter but now it’s been confirmed in the local paper that the Vulcan will be part of it too, which is great news.

It should be good if all goes to plan and will probably never be repeated.

Very nice pics on what was a very bad day.

You almost had me with the Red Arrow, it was only the smoke system that made me look closer and even then it didn’t dawn on me for a minute. 😀

I saw this on the news today. Their grandfather is Vic Norman who’s a pilot with the Breitling wingwalkers so they were in familiar territory.

Personally I think it’s refreshing in this day and age to see kids do something like this.

Well best to wait until Friday before making a decision as we’ll have a more accurate understanding of the weekend’s weather prospects by then.

At least if you have a ticket it’s valid for either day, although Monday will probably be the best day, now that they’ve moved to a Sat/Sun show. 😀

When the weather looks so variable I usually just go prepared for sunshine and showers and enjoy the day.

Oh yes a Navy scheme on a Buccaneer. I’m sure it’ll look superb! 😎

Thanks also for the info regarding the u/c Blue2. :eagerness:
