Aircraft has been six months on the ground and while it is running nicely (thanks to Rex Ford at Fordaire and Ron for sterling work on the engine) and airborne again we are going to place it up for sale on Do27.com in the next week as the costs of ownership have become onerous and the the CAA will not allow it to be flown on a permit. Still, if we get a fair price I can always buy a Hawker Hunter and fly that on a permit.
Forgot to add, we flew the Dornier to Pembrey Range for a shake down and then returned to St Athan.
Cheers Stuart, I think that is where we picked up the spares a couple of years back. What we found were some parts left over from the other airframe which was stolen from the people who originally imported them. All a bit of mystery as to what happened to the other fuselage and engine.

Missed the train yesterday! We had hoped to catch the Yns Mon Express from Crewe but were late off and could not catch up. A couple of shots from a trip along the Dee Estuary and post fuel stop at Sleap with another vintage tailwheel type.

Finally picked up the D27 from St Athan did a local flight to check engine, prop and electrical systems with friends then off north via the Brecon Beacons. Thanks to all at Horizon for their work in keeping the Dornier going. For some reason my wife likes taking pictures of power stations, not sure why.

Looking good, I take it everything has now settled down on the costs front as you and your eengineers have go her under control and you are starting to enjoy her more 🙂
Hi Tony, not really Elaine and myself still sorting the Dornier out and the CAA intransigence over keeping us on a C of A means we will probably have to sell in the end. Prop overhaul on top of an annual this year and God knows what next year and the year after that.
I could operate and fly a Hunter on a PPL and a Permit though! Insane world in which the CAA is killing GA in the UK.
