    E MAIL TODAY

After such a fabulous year, we have only a handful of minutes left, so the final flight will be around 15 minutes with no display, simply saying Farewell to the Skies.

I would save the money and call it a day after the success of the two tours

According to the Historic Flight , Skeeter XL812 (G-SARO) was grounded in 2007 by the CAA (along with all Skeeters) due to issues with main rotor blade spar corrosion and time expired components.

What the time expired components are I am unsure

    Charlie,

What is even more interesting for me is the email now goes to 121,000 people which has gone up from 80,000

Also have to agree completely with Trekbuster that VTTS can do as they wish once they have had the donations.

I think that they have fulfilled their commitment many times over recently with the non-airshow flights by bringing XH558 to a very wide audience.

Today’s flight has just got underway. As predicted days ago, but not mentioned by VTTS until ten minutes before take-off. I suppose I’m a bad person for criticising VTTS yet again but there we go – another flight just to take some raffle winners for a joyride with the Blades. All very nice for them but somehow I don’t imagine the raffle covers the cost of the fuel that will be used today. But either way, there is of course no reason why the flight couldn’t have been publicised. As ever, VTTS self-interest prevails. It’s fortunate that some people who were/are aware of plans are prepared to tell us, even if the “People’s Vulcan” folks are not 😉

    Tim,

This is not factually correct it was announced on Twitter on the XH558 feed more than 1 hour before take off.

If you want to keep abreast of things I would suggest that you check the Twitter feed as this is the most up to date information.

It also states that this is not the last flight.

I fail to see why they need to publish every flight detail. Was the recent flight of the Lancaster broadcast across social media before it took off ?

If the final flight happens in secret that would be a shame, but I personally think that the National Tour and the V Force tour have given the majority the opportunity to see the aircraft prior to retirement.

All of the other RAF types were lucky to have a one day farewell tour and some not even that.

    Mike J

Never travelled far to see XH558

Saw it on Saturday at Leadgate (about 10 miles form Home) and on the V Force Tour at the North East Aircraft Museum.

Seen loads of Vulcans when they were in service, just one of those aircraft that were always impressive so thought I would see it for one last time.

VTTS state on their web site that there will be at least two more flights.

These will happen before the end of October when several components reach their end of life and OEM support stops.

I can not understand the fascination with seeing it take off or land at Doncaster.

Enjoy it in the air and be grateful for the fact it has been flown for long after its retirement from RAF service

It is completely impossible. There is no chance of Concorde flying again. Nil. Zip. Zero. Nada.

Have to agree as there is no design authority or manufacturer support there is no chance of a return to the skies for Concorde

Charlie – its been clear all year that VTTS want to create the Vulcan academy /museum at Doncaster . Quite why is beyond most people I guess but it takes all sorts!

Blind faith I suspect as despite the odds they have been successful in operating the aircraft and can therefore see no reason that the academy will not work

When matched with the v Force tour I think they have chosen a pretty fair route

Saw it over XL319 at Sunderland on the V Force tour

Might have to go to Alnwick this time to see it over the castle

I will be somewhat surprised if times are published…….

They published the times and routes for the Salute to the V Force so I can see no reason why they will not publish the route

The final flight will be mid to late October as it is now on the VTTS web page
