Traffic was no problem, arived at 9:40 and parked on the non-airfeild side.
Left at 5:15 and was on the M11 within five minutes.
No Pucaras at Middle Wallop.
Of the two that were there one is now at the Norfolk & Suffolk Museum and the other was scrapped with the nose section initially going to Tony Dyer at Boscombe (aka Rocketeer).
Both were very corroded at the time of disposal due to the long sea journey as deck cargo.
Of the others that were returned to the UK the flyer is at Cosford, One is at Duxford and one at NEAM in Sunderland
The T34 is at Yeovilton and the MB339 with Rolls Royce albeit in the guise of the JPATS candidate.
Martin,

Hary Welford served with the CFS at Upavon and 11 FTS at Scone (Perth) prior to joining 222 Squadron if this helps.
If the aircraft is the one flown by Flt Lt Lees then the details are as follows:-
Flying with 56 Sqn from Manston on 27th May 1940, Hurricane P3311 shot down by Bf109 probably flown by Fw Luders of 6/JG26 after attackinh He111 of KG54. The aircraft ditched in the sea of Ostend. Flt Lt R.H.A, Lee rescued. At this time 56 Sqn were normally based at North Weald but were operating from Manston to cover Dunkirk
Thanks for the reply but I am pretty sure that they are not from 607 Squadron
According to RAF Flying Training and Support Units bt R Sturtivant
71 Maintenance Unit was at Little Horwood from 15.1.46 to disbandment on 15.11.47

P2874
P2874 taken at Usworth 15th August 1940
P2874
P2874 was used by 607 Squadron during the Battle of France and was one of six aircraft to return to Croydon on the fall of France.
It was repaired by Rollason’s at Croydon and re-issued to the squadron. The aircraft was the preferred choice of Flt Lt F W Blackadder and was coded “F” with the squadron. Blackadder flew this arcraft whilst leading the squadron on 14th August against the German raids on Northern England.
I have a photgraph of the aicraft at Usworth taken the following day.
Most of what is left is used for film props and is therefore not for sale.
Steve now does very little scrapping as it has little or no return.
He still occassionaly clears bits from Foulness
There were also batches of TSR2’s in the “XS” serial range of which XS660-670 were part manufactured at time of cancellation
XS944-XS995 had also been allocated
Have a look at http://www.ukserials.com/
