I think a better market would be south american with sensors installed for drug’s/rebel’s and some cheap guided munitions on the longer loiter missions

If they have a half decent loiter time they should be used by SAR by the RAF in place of out of service Nims.

BTW I do agree with the idea for drugs missions!

It would probably involve 30 to 50 airframes to make it cost effective. What do you think?

Surrely with this Italy and Greece could do a joint buy and get half and half with the same sesors to make it more cost efficient.

Could S-3 be a stand-in land-based MarPat type. Yes. Definitely, but, the question is likely to be how it compares with something like the ATR42MP. Seeings as you can buy a brand new one of those for 30mn Euro’s and get twin-prop airliner running costs. S-3 is more capable of course…..but if you dont NEED all the extra capability…..???

I would as a cadet watching Maritime partrol vanish from the UK and having been to Kinloss I would like to see the Viking being available. If we could lease them from the US we would be able to use them for SAR also and as small tankers in Afgan.

If they are this capable sureley they could be stop gap for Nimrods in SAR and Maritime patrol. They could have detachments across the UK to make up for the range?

    WB – Colerne times 3

    BY – Cranwell once

I would like to see the Type 26 to have a capabillity to vector aircraft at long range from the QE class with a very capable radar that will also be able to track balistic missiles in flight and also have the abillity to guide missiles to intercept these from a Type 45 that is out of range for the intercept.

Surely the British ould sell Taiwan weapons systems in anger for the killing of the mentally ill man earlier this year. This would allow Britain to call it quits with china after this as we get contracts for Taiwan and the general public see that things are being harsh on china in responce.

5 P-3s could have been bought and with one used as a crew trainer filled as much of the gap as possible until MR4 arrives.
