Good day to all
Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth. I’m not sure where you heard that the F 35 is replacing the A-10, nothing could be further from the truth. The 3 aircraft it’s designed to replace are the Navy’s F-18E/F, the Airforces F-16 and the Marines Harrier.
If you get the chance to see “Battle of the X-Planes” it tells the story of the competition between Boeing and Lockheed to win the JSF. Mike Jorgenson does a fantastic job putting it all together.
Sincerely Gerry
Good morning Folks
Is there no one who could even hazard a guess of what aircraft these might be out of? Anything would be appreciated.
Thanks, sincerely Gerry
Battle of the X-Planes
Hey all
Just thought I’d throw this in because it’s somewhat related to the subject. During the competion for the new Joint Strike Fighter one of the criteria was a short take off followed by a supersonic run and the return to a verticle landing. The XF-35 now on display at the Udvar-Hazy museum was the first and only aircraft so far to achieve this.
Hello Peter and British canuck.
First may I ask what museums are you gents with? Second from what I understand Crown assets is offering 14 Tutors for a nominal bid to museums that are members of the CAPA organization. Our museum has entered a bid and hope to hear very soon of it’s success.
During my tenure in Moose Jaw I had taken several detail shots of a Tutor with the intension of putting together a pilot extrication presentation for the Fire Dept. I still have some of those pictures around if you’re interested.

I keep reading about this region 2 release for the B of B, I’m assuming this is the one that has all the goodie extra’s. Does anyone know if it’ll be released in a format that we can play here in Canada? I just picked up the movie not to long ago but there are no extras.
Thanks Gerry
Thanks Roger and the rest for the info. I’m headed to Vegas in the middle of next month. Getting on the base as a serving Canadian Military member should be pretty straight forward. I’ll post pics.
Thanks sincerely Gerry
Unbelievably fantastic

Hello WP
I know I have a paper somewhere that tells me what code belongs to what aircraft used by the RCAF. I know that the B-25 was 26JL and all subassemblies include that number. Maybe there’s a chance that that code is on this list and as soon as I find it I’ll post it.
Sincerely Gerry
I must admit I’m rather surprised so far as it’s been my belief that Owners prefer the more colorful schemes and therefore forego authenticity for popularity.
Hi Chris
That is the infernal question, one day they are and the next they aren’t. I believe the biggest issue is that they’re making the drawings as they go along. I understand the wood they’re using is aircraft grade but some of the other material isn’t. Either way it’ll be a wonderful addition to our collection. It has garnered worldwide attention as we’re recieving info and pictures from around the world but fom what I understand it was a one off.
Thanks for your interest, Gerry
To add to my original post, the flight control system is made up of 2 control colums and on top of each of these is a lever. The right side lever is the throttle and from what I understand the left side lever is the rudder. The biggest hurdle we’ve run up against is once you’ve set the throttle to what you want how do you keep it at that setting while still being able to manipulate the control column.
thanks Gerry

I will ensure that your thanks gets to the right people. I’m not completely certain of the Bell story but will get it. That Norseman on floats you were looking at is now mounted in front of the Museum. It sure adds color to the avenue.

Were you with the British Aviation Enthusists group that was by on a Sunday afternoon, if I recall? Paul Squires (our gift shop manager ) said that he was of the impression that you enjoyed it.
Thank you very much and I’m glad you enjoyed it, Gerry

Hi Albert Ross
The reason there’s been nothing done on the Cranweel in 10 years is because our intension is to show the kind of construction that was used way back then. Resently though the Board has been toying with having restoration cover half of it and leave the rest bare 😮
