maybe i’m not understanding the situation, but . . .
allowing planes within gun range of your boat = automatic fail
Yeah, if they were within gun range then they would have been within radar range as well. VLO capability simply reduces radar detection coverage area, doesn’t negate it completely.
I’d like to look at it from the perspective of the degree of sensor fusion that underlies whatever is displayed on the pilot’s screens. You can have a stunning graphical representation that seems impressive but how comprehensive and meaningful is the information that is displayed in relation to the tactical situation facing the pilot at that very moment?
End-november.. has it flown yet? Anyone?:diablo:
No problem.. F-15s have been known to fly minus an entire wing..:D
I’m sure they got some good training out of it..
Dumped in concrete and stored in the open, not really a permanent solution.
I think that for the US Government, it probably is the permanent solution. They would seem to post a minimal threat in their present storage environment except maybe to birds that decide to nest on the damn things.
A conjectural drawing of the Shenyang J-14
.. looks awfully familiar..
Anyone care to give odds on it actually getting into the air before year’s end?:diablo:
Thanks for your responses..just curious but would these still apply in the case of the B787 and its composite fuselage? Let’s say someone on the tarmac got careless and crashed his vehicle into the side of the plane, cracking the composite shell.
I don’t think so. The performance trials were completed in India and what remain is the weapons/avionics trials that has to be conducted in the U.S. So there is no point in getting the EPE for those.
Ok thanks. It would just be interesting to know what kind of impact the new engines would make on SH performance.
According to Vishnu Som it will be configured with Enhanced Performance engines. It will also be 9G capable 😎
I should have been more specific.. the new engines are actualy being used in ongoing Phase 2 of the competition?
MMRCA Trials schedule
Super Hornet F/A-18s completed their Phase 1 trials in Bangalore in August. Group Captain Dixit and Wing Commander Chauhan evaluated the Super Hornet. The aircraft is currently undergoing Phase 2 trials.
Is the SH configured with the more powerful F-414 engines or standard vanilla version? 20% more thrust would do wonders for performance..
OK thanks.
What does this mean ?
…and improve the rocket motor’s response to insensitive munitions (IM) stimuli.
