Its also been reported that the D model comes with a dual-pulse motor.. it will be able to put on a sudden burst of speed as it closes with its target.
Is it the consensus that PAK-FA will be twin-engined like the Raptor? Or is there a reasonable chance that it will only have a single engine ala F-35?
So Dec. 31,2009 is the new deadline for the PAK-FA first flight..:diablo:
I think if he was going to get shot down, a fighter pilot would rather it be by groundfire or SAM rather than admit someone had bested him in air combat.:D
It seems they were able to address concerns early in the program of potential information overload on the pilot so only the vital stuff gets displayed depending on where the pilot’s head is facing.
An interesting article on how the ATL might be used. Its limited power won’t allow it ro burn through armor but is expected to be strong enough to disable, neutralize soft targets.
No evidence of any holes on the hood.
There were probably several tests and we only get to see a short video. The original press release claimed that the laser “defeated” the target.. your guess is as good as anyone’s what they meant..
So, does the person who posts the first CONFIRMED photo of the PAK-FA get a prize?:D
The ultimate chick magnet:D
So what exactly willtakeits place? I heard some reference to AEGIS shipsin one news report but not much else. Anyone know?
Maybe they could try some Chinese take-out..:D
You’d think as much as they talk about the S-400 though there would be dozens of test videos out there.
Yeah, the Russians aren’t shy releasing videos of other weapons platforms and they are marketing the S-300/S-400 aren’t they?
Russia has an ABM system in place, and numerous ATBM or ATBM-capable systems deployed. The next-gen system will be the S-500, to be ready for trials by 2015, which will combine ASAT and ABM capability in one mobile system. The S-500 may be the system for which the 45T6 ABM is being developed.
Maybe so, but they don’t seem to be conducting any tests approaching the scale that the US is conducting. You’d think they’d want to prove how effective their ABM defenses are if only to discourage potential enemies and to help secure potential sales. Also, if only for their own peace of mind that the system continues to be effective, periodic testing would be essential not to mention verficiation that any upgrades done to the system actually work.
The US seems to be making good progress in its ABM Program. The Russians on the other hand seem to be lagging behind. With much tighter budgets, will the Russians be able to match the US accomplishmentsor ian’t missile defense a priority for them?
