It may just be sloppy journalism, but aren’t the cockpit doors further forward hinged?
It’s the main cabin door where the jumpers exited that slide.
She has cleared the 3 Bridges successfully.
Such a shame that it was done on the midnight low tide, it would have been quite a sight in daylight.
Not to mention recruitment potential for the RN had they made a big song and dance over it.
Looks like QE will be departing Rosyth in the next few days for sea trials

There are suggestions of her coming out of the basin during the early morning low tide, Thursday or Friday, possibly holding at the Hound Point anchorage (after passing under the three bridges) before heading out to sea.
QE delivery schedule is outlined here….https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/hms-queen-elizabeth-sail-sea-trials-spring/
Ships Staff Move On Board (SSMOB) was planned for Jan 9th
Ready for Sea Date is due March 10
then 5-1-5 trials …Out of Rosyth, apparently alongside at Invergordon before finally arriving at Portsmouth
Sadly the APSS have known for some time that they would out grow any space the museum could realistically provide to display the aircraft on a permanent basis, plus as has been pointed out, it was built to be a flyer.
It’s disappointing to read that their Radar displays would be moving out as well, though in fairness they do live a rather cramped existence in the shed they have been using. Not having a proper “public access” door didn’t help either.
I wish them well in finding somewhere, preferably not too far from East Fortune.
Your reports are always worth while reading, if it takes a few more days to compile then so be it, we shall enjoy them as and when you have the time to make them available.
U.S. Air Force Wants Stealthy, Laser-Shooting Next-Gen Tanker
First time I’ve seen that design render whether as a tanker or laser platform
Speaking of which, where is the refuelling receiver, given the abomination that Lockheed had to add to their shapely design. There isn’t an obvious surface that has the space or markings. The Nose looks to short and behind the cockpit is not just shapely but also has an aerial fin before blending up into the tail.
the VH71 was the give away for the merlin, as that was to be the presidential version before they started adding thousands of lbs of extras
try http://global.adsbexchange.com/VirtualRadar/mobile.html# Some military stuff shows up on here.
It was a really good show, typical of what East Fortune puts out year on year.
A special mention though the the Swiss PC7 team, as they put it precision flying not stunt flying. An excellent performance sadly against grey skies.
If you can get past that gawd awful voice over, it’s a nice “haven’t we done a lot to improve the Apache” but doesn’t really cover aspects such as…
Where the new engine is in terms of power compared to the current or any future upgrade of the RTM322?
Will the new builds have the UK’s folding rotor and “sea proofing” system program that allows the WAH64D to operate off HMS Ocean and the QE Class carriers ?
50 Apache AH-64E for British Army.
MoD Orders New Fleet of Cutting-Edge Apache Helicopters for British Army
Sorry I know this is a news thread but I need some clarification
Given the Westland built and Rolls Royce powered version of was significantly better in some ways that the standard D model, my understanding was that the E was Boeing’s attempts to bring the Apache on par with the UK built aircraft.
What Does the E model bring to the table that couldn’t be incorporated in the UK built current fleet during an upgrade? If its airframes timing out, then why not more UK kit builds transferring across the current/upgraded UK parts and adding in those extra features.
Only if he’s done his time as a full time fast jet pilot
Only if he’s then gone through instructors course
And only if there is still a RAF Display team in 25+ years time
What stopped them from doing that? In fact if that was an area where they saw an opportunity, BAE could have stepped up and expanded on their role in the partnership with Northrop Grumman just as SAAB has done with its with Boeing.
The money had already been spent developing the avionics and integrating them into the hawk airframe. I doubt there was sufficient funds, and perhaps even interest from the UK MOD in developing a new airframe as well. Hence the American request for a new trainer was too late.
