Looking at the Props and their ground clearence on the Herc test bed.

How much higher will the Engines be mounted on the A400M (how much more ground clearence)?

G-ACVA is currently held at the Museum of Flight at East Fortune. According to the Museums website it’s the only complete aircraft of it’s type left.

    More info Here

I have not seen the A-26’s episode again since its initial showing.

Don’t think I’ve seen that one at all. I thought I’d seen them all too

Was it a Special or a normal show?

    Hi Der,

Yes perfectly correct the undercarriage assembly is still there. Although it no longer has the working hydraulic system to raise and lower the wheel and for steering. But only because it has broken down and hasnt been fixed.

I think it was always very noisy in operation at East Fortune due to the very low temperature of the hangar thus making the oil very cold.

I seem to rememeber this as I have had a member of staff operate it while we were there.

Many years ago a member of staff operated the gear when myself and a few friends showed a particular interest. We were the only ones in that hanger at the time, and as a result got an unofficial tour.
The staff member stated at the time that he wasn’t sure whether it would work due to the aged Hydraulic seals, thankfully it did, and I have the memory of seeing it work.

Incidentally – is anything happening to the East Fortune example – after that first splurge of publicity it’s all gone very quiet – is it the Concorde effect??

At the airshow this year chatting with the Bolingbrooke guys, I asked where the Beaufighter was being restored about.
The comment back from them wasn’t positive, very liitle had been done. The general impression was that there was “issues” though I’m not sure whether they were airframe, restoration space* or budget.

    * I say restoration space because I was told that the largest of the Ministry of Transport buildings as you drive into the Museum was to be made available to the Museum as a restoration workshop, but this doesn’t seem to have happened.

Yeah, I’m still looking for the river EJ200.

    The same again……………

The EJ200 was build by EuroJet Turbo GmbH, which is a consortium which includes Rolls Royce.

As such it RR doesn’t have “river” naming rights.

    UK Jaguars have already gone.

UK also operates the Tucano I don’t know the numbers though.

    Getting back to CVF

Surely the biggest issue here isn’t ownership of the aircraft …But simply that the UK buys enough of the things to meet all it’s needs. Harrier has been cut far too small and currently can’t really do this.

RAF/FAA doesn’t really matter as long as there is enough aircraft/squadrons to fill the land based role AND keep enough “Daves” afloat at all times to justify the size of the carriers…there is no point only embarking a Lusty/Ark size compliment on the new carriers.

    Hey guys,

The game is this Sunday. Kick off is at 6pm UK time. My guess is that they won’t leave til the following morning.

Both teams have a bye week the following week so they won’t need to rush back.

Our clocks go back on Sunday but I don’t think they do in the US for another week, so the game is actually a 5pm kick-off. It’s live on BBC2 and SkySports

    So lets get this right…

Your writing a book about an event you don’t want to disclose (you mention 1983) but claim it will be a big event when made public.

That features a helicopter (Black with no markings) of a type that you don’t know the name of or the designation for.

Research for this book includes asking forum goers to do your research for you by identifying the helicopter from a vague description … not to mention asking for someone to photoshop such a design.

…. Just out of curiosity had somone on here identified what you were after, would they or the fact the information came from this forum be mentioned in the book or would you sit back and claim to have done all the research yourself?

I don’t mean for this to come across as an attack on you, I simply find way this thread has evolved curious to say the least.

    Civilian uses?

I’d say the single/2 seaters would work great as private jets.

Pass flight school, and get around quickly.:D

A two seater as an executive taxi ?

Fixed rates…by the mile…by the gallon of fuel?

Is HC4 what those stored “problem” Chinooks were supposed to be or is this taking them and eveything else up another level?
