As relative layman when it comes to aviation officialdom, I want to understand the consequences of this. So does a “display item” cover for example the Red arrows or would that be 9 “display items”.

Likewise something like the BBMF or Hanger 11 are capable of doing…putting up a pair that display start together then separate into a solo display, before a couple of opposition passes together before the second solo display and finally return as pair for final passes.

    How are these things counted.

Whether his TV or Radio broadcasting was your cup of tea. His charity work shouldn’t be ignored. He was Mr Children in Need both in front of the camera and behind the scenes as a trustee.

    After 50 years on air…RIP.

It makes for some interesting reading, that’s for sure.

Realistically these days, it would take a company/organisation to approach an Indy TV company with their project. The TV company then have to consider how and what type of approach to take, so that they themselves could approach the Broadcasters.

Then there is scheduling, editing and post-production could mean that the programme ends up airing 6 months or more after the project was completed, unveiled and possibly flown for an airshow season.
As an enthusiast we might still be interested in the process, but broadcasters could see it as being to late for general public viewing.

The first pic of post #10 brings back memories.

Oh for the days when Hanger 4 was full of aircraft … not just about full with one aircraft

I’m sure the new civilian CG are doing a superb job and will improve further as the A189s come on stream.

We can’t forget that the Merlin flights will be providing rescue coverage for the fleet and of course cover the launch and landings from QE and POW in due course.

There is a certain irony that the last 2 years RN Merlin airshow display has included a winch rescue, when with the retirement of the Sea King the RN areleaving the public SAR business.

Can’t help but feel that there is an element “don’t worry folks the Navy can still do this if the civilian guys can’t or need helping out”.

There may be a retouched image of one of the previous designs that the company illustrators and marketing divisions have show publicly before.
We already know it’s a variation on the flying wing, smaller than a B2. I’m not expecting anything spectacularly new.

    ,

BBC News just ran a report commenting that there will be a few more flights with the last flight be before the end of the month.

No obvious reason for running the report today, other than as a filler on a relatively slow news day

    From this morning:

Not a lot happening in Vulcan world 😉

    Moggy

My point was that it was a pre-recorded piece that seemed to rather randomly inserted. To be honest it was the type of piece you’d expect to be shown once the final flight date was announced.

    My favorites are the `pair` at Dunsfold. Brendon O’Brian gets me every time when the Wing Walkers are displaying;
“OMG LOOK AT THAT SIX PACK”. Turning around quickly to witness not very much happening!

It was O’Brien that did the Airshow on Ayr beachfront last weekend, He also did the inaugeral show last year.

While last year was entertaining as it was the first I’d heard him, this year was awful. Recycled the same jokes for for aircraft that displayed last year. Became very annoying with his constant referenced to Wee Dram, when trying to build up to the display of G-DRAM. Amusing once but not at every gap between aircraft.

At one point it sounded like he was reading from google or Wiki regarding the Swedish Historic flight’s Tunnan display, likewise with the Speedtwin Comet…Ok he acknowledged not to have seen the aircraft display before but, do some research before hand and put the info into your own words…or better yet shut up watch the display and comment afterwards.

AW wants to build a new helicopter to replace RAF Pumas and Italian Mangustas! It wants the governments to commit to the project in the same way as they did for EH101:

Wasn’t the AW149 supposed to be the puma replacement, with offers of UK production lines etc ?

I’m a bit more worried about the persistent rumour that she was launched without her screws, so that HM could do the champagne/whiskey bit on schedule. And now they just need to work just how on earth one fits screws to a ship already in the water (the only dry dock large enough to take her is too far away to just drift to)

Still could just be an oft repeated rumour I spose.

Don’t know about Mrs Windsor’s timing but mounting of the screws does seem something of an after thought.

The second page has an article about their fitting and a picture on one in a warehouse somewhere.
