    Whose is the first T-6?

Saw it at RIAT, and really liked the scheme – probably ’cause it was a bit different.

My digital camera is pretty old and my scanner’s not up to much so I had a limited choice. However, it was one of my favourite’s for of the year. Had to touch the picture up a bit as the lighting is awful.

I went to the Transport Museum in Gasgow in between Christmas and New Year. I had seen the progress of the restoration at East Fortune’s Festival of Flight, when they opened the restoration hangar, over the last few years. Good to see her complete and back in Glasgow.

Unfortunately they will be moving her to the Art Gallery once it’s refurbished, apparently as an ‘Exhibit of War’ and strung from the ceiling! A few people had posted comments at the museum concerning this, but the Council Museum’s department say they will also use her as a basis to cover the history of aviation in the area. We’ll see!

They’re using AirTransat for Canadian flights, but from quite a few UK locations (plus Dublin) .

Does anyone know if the “Making of” documentary for the movie (“The Other Stars of Memphis Belle” I think it’s called) is still available? I’m sure this includes footage of the the French B-17 crashing on take-off.

See thread on PlanesTv.com – says it’s on DVD as well. For some reason it doesn’t have a buy now option for that video but says to contact them.

More than a fiver though, but if you join the club (£25, not sure if it’s a one-off or annual) looks like all/most purchases are half price.

No – I’m not on commission!

Some great photos in there. Also got Hurricanes, Catalinas, P-39’s and B-25’s. Definitely worth a look.

There is actually an English version (need to look harder mmitch!). You can get to it from here

Be struggling to make it out of the group stage since you’re in the third pot for seedings.

Plus, rememeber that you still only got there through the play-offs, plus you got beat on Saturday, just got lucky last night!!!

Didn’t realise they had tried before with public transport.

I do feel that it does suffer from it’s location though in being able to attract visitors staying in Edinburgh. Anytime I’m on holiday I try and find an aviation museum (to my wife’s despair!). Wonder how many people do the same, but find it too far out of Edinburgh if you don’t have a car?

Then again if no-one used the service I’m not sure what else could be done.

BBC News site yesterday were reporting an £8m redevelopment of the whole museum, with the Exec providing £2m. One MSP was however questioning the lack of public transport to East Fortune, which is probably one of it’s main problems in terms of attracting visitors.

But, hopefully this might mean the Vulcan and Comet will get indoors!
