Keith got around to trying to remove the black today. Used some gentry stripper and the black flaked away – There was no number under the paint on the one I cleaned. The back brackets were the original green under the black confirming the overpaint.
Thanks Keith – I thought it was later as there is some grey/green paint underneath.
amongst the furniture – a Bristol Hercules engine for sale.
Thanks to all for comments and assistance.

This image also perfectly matches the rivets etc.
Thank you. I was more convinced that it was an Avro part.
Just a thought – as the Anson was Cheetah engined ( and cowled) so was the Oxford and Envoy etc. The Oxford was 10…. The Envoy would be 6…..
Although there are no letters in this Oxford part number.
Elliott – as requested. British and cowling.
Ant – I have been up and down most of the lend lease aircraft and it does not fit.
I agree that most of the Russian aircraft were either robust construction or wood.
It is most likely fuselage – rather than wing or tail.
The early Il2 was a metal tail and there is a stripped back one in Beijing that shows it is not one of them.
Working through theVVS inventory I found one that matches perfectly on the outside – rivets. strips of aluminum etc.
There are few image of its inside but I have found two images that show this construction… An innovative structure with flared holed ribs …
in conclusion I think it is a Tupelov SB.
So fairly sure that it is a recreation.

When compared with the Seattle restoration – there are no similarities in structure/rivets etc.

I have used white metal casting – purchased the metal, melting pot, ladle and silicone (for casting) from Tiranti.
Bruce several of Paul Laidlaws guide prices are way out- eg. the two Lanc columns that were guide prices of 50 and are now 500.
Runway – there are 800 lots per day – starting at 10 a.m. So depending on the interest/bidding each lot can take 40 secs to 3 mins – hence end of each day is open ended.
you can create alerts on the live auction on Saleroom so that it beeps at you when an auction item is starting…
I would suggest you come up here to sunny Carlisle – the Business park where the auction is just behind the station ( and a little walk).
Nice to see something of aviation interest up here for a change.
Thanks Mike
