Thank you Bazv. I can go with that if we can attibute this part number to any of the aircraft you know they have made..
P.S. the outer section is bare metal with what could be remains of red doped fabric marks on it.
Thanks Denis
Clarence also has ZL-N RA536 Named Natch SOC 17th June 47.
According to Clarence records are from April to Sept 45
420 – PT-U was KB941 and known as Passion Wagon – returned to Canada 14th June 45.
425 – KW-U was KB975 and known as SpooknDroop returned to Canada 15th June 45.
so Z for Zeke seems more likely unless it precedes these records.
I was aware that it could be U – but assumed Zeke to be more likely. I can also post the U for both squadrons if you wanted to pursue either.
Simonsens book on RCAF Nose Art does not have this one pictured but says 420 squadron PT-Z was KB875 and KB946 both returned to Canada 13th and 14th June 45 respectively.
He doesnt have 425 Z aircraft
My contact in Russia has just asked If I wanted an L-39 Albatross control stick and pedals.
I declined – let me know if you want to contact him.
P.S. I am sure you realise it is the Disney/AVG Flying Tiger.
There are a couple of chapters specifically on aircraft clocks.
first one on RAF clocks, Then one on aircraft clocks – two separate half chapters by two people ( by my mind).
Followed by a short section on RAF instrument clocks (gun cameras etc>)
At the rear are two short chapters on US, Japanese etc.
Ca. 70-80% of the book is on wristwatches.
So does not cover instruments in general – it is aimed at us clock geeks.
It is not inexpensive and half in German – but it is a very big, useful and well presented book.
If you want to be able to remove it – all the acrylics will be problematic as they are likely to be substantive to the substrate and fill interstices.
I would consider a simple wax polish – Here in UK I would use Rustins Black Bison clear wax.
Konrad Knirim has written two books on military timepieces. One on German and one on British.
This page is from the British edition.
The Chinook grip certainly isn’t, the column should be much more curved. Both look to be Wessex. I wonder how they’ll do?
Brightspark, your grip looks to be Vampire or Seahawk. Without checking numbers I would err on the side of Vampire.
The Pebble Island Pucara panel is nicely stamped IAI – did the Israeils also make Pucaras and sell to the Argentinians as well as Daggers or is it perhaps also not what it fully seems. i.e. signatures are correct. dark green paint is correct and stamps are for a Dagger made in Israel – however none were lost on Pebble Island – I believe.
1937 mk3A clock
Anyone need a 1937 Carley and Clemence Mk3A clock stores reference 6A/676M for a late 30’s/ Fall of France/BofB static panel.
Often called Spitfire Clocks were used in many clocks of that time.
Unlike later versions this has a bespoke swiss mechanism and not the Jaeger as from 3B – both shown in Knirims book in picture
Clock has been cleaned and oiled but has a broken jewel at last wheel so only suitable for static or spares.
Has all three brass knobs and the bevelled glass. Rear case and hands replaced in the 60’s .
P.S. no radium in dial!
Chinook and Wessex grips for auction tomorrow.
I mentioned this on the turret thread a few days ago with link to the saleroom where you can place a bid.
