Just been cleaning up a Hayes Industries 27 inch USAAF wheel made in April 43.
To the rear it is market as Lynite – the alloy used in its construction.
Thanks Tony.
Bizarrely it has several part numbers
106-14501-21 ; 14051-25; 14051-13
the -21 is stamped twice.
The hinge is stamped 106-14051-22

Happy to gift it to a restoration if the postage is paid.
Thanks for the confirmation Brian, I saw the 668 number was Varsity, but I don’t claim to be expert on numbers and when 66 is Harvard I never quite know which set of numbers to work from!
Steve

Oppama thank you for all you help.
Kanji remains difficult for me to understand and I rely upon Google translate, Kanji drawing programmes and Chinese/Japanese colleagues for assistance.
So to conclude this is a Nakajima Sakae piston with a bore of 130mm – liberated from a crashed aircraft.
The bore and design suggest it is from a Sakae 12 as used in a variety of IJN and IJA aircraft ?
No need to apologise- thank you for all the images.
