Thank you P&P this one does not have the RR cache that yours had – but excellent identity and confirmation of Morris construction…
Titanic has a certain resonance – our house is the family home of the Chief Engineer Joseph Bell and where he was born and grew up before his apprenticeship at Stephenson’s Engine works in Newcastle. It has taken several years to prove to the Titanic authorities that his birthplace of Whitehaven was incorrect. He is remembered on his mothers gravestone in the local churchyard. A small group of us had the inscription restored for the centenary.
Thanks all – could MMQR be MMOR for the Morris Motors Osberton Radiator works – They made radiators for spitfires ???
Elliot thanks I assume Peter worked on the Beau ?
Thanks Alan – I am open to any suggestion.
The inspector stamp is MMQR – same as in data plate. Any suggestions on the manufacturer ?
Thanks Mike – the grill on this one is 4 inches across and 2 inches high. Unless there were a stack it is too small for the wing one ?
Wayne I was impressed by your thermal process to get the oil back in. The wintergreen should at least make it smell better.
I hope it keeps supple for many years.
It is many years since I last compounded natural rubber on a two roll mill and added plastcisers.
This article discusses the effect of various oils on Natural rubber and which affected the hardness ( Shore A) of the resultant rubber.
Castor oil seems to have had a beneficial effect.
Yes but the number of parts from it for sale in UK over the last few years – it must also be a shell !
It was one of the ones brought back from Russia – 0875709
B-24
Just received this B-24 part that is confirmed as also being an engine cowl. One of the hinged panels just behind the front.
This is from a known B-24H.
The front has a silver paint on it – On top of chromate green.
No 32 stamps unfortunately
” But its also missing its contra-rotating partner in crime, if I am not mistaken?”
Correct – contra prop located, ordered and in the post.
USN Mk14 rear prop – from Greece.
I found a nice military prop this week too but it is for travelling in mediums other than air.
is there more the address? I didn’t have any luck with deutschluftwaffe.de…thanks!
http://www.deutscheluftwaffe.de/archiv/Dokumente/web/new%20site/frames2/Dokumente.htm
I would go to deutschluftwaffe.de and go to archiv – j for Junkers and then look through the Ju87 manuals there.
Thank you Sabrejet.
So the only question remaining is whether these two white painted parts are from F-84 or something else ?
They are slightly different with one being ca. 1cm longer than the other.
Any F-84 experts out there ?
Sabrejet the part number is from the reinforcer at the rear and may be specific to the sub assembly.
On identity – I bought it from a man who says the following on identity:
My guess is they came off a F-86h from the Sorocco New Mexico aircraft boneyard. The mining institute there bought pretty much all of the MASS ANG F-86Hs.
