The Gyro gunsight mk1 part shown is derived from the Type G prismatic made for Bristol aircraft turrets. (I have one).

These pages are taken from the two volume set of books on British Aircraft guns and sights – a very nice addition to the library.
Strange how my grandfather from Ayrshire got sent to Edinburgh and then to Lancashire for his training.
His gunnery school was at Walney Island. Seems to have bypassed the closer South Scottish resorts.
Sorry But I sold the bit that sticks on the end to a museum last week.
I had the tail section with the last 3 frames .
The artist JJ Adams has an interest in Bomber Command as one of his relatives flew with Gibson at 106 Squadron.

He has also recently prepared a new Lancaster artwork that he is previewing on his current tour.
It does not use the Duchess of Cambridge on it – although there are some spaceships!
Apologies if I was misleading – I was checking if this part was from an HP54 – but not any specific aircraft. Just my digging about into HP54’s found the video which I found interesting.
The part was acquired last year at Shoreham. So could be from anything.
Not bloodhound.
Storm Shadow upper fin ?
Thanks to all.
I do not think it is a drop tank fin – as the ones I have (Tornado 1500l) are made from honeycomb.
This one appears to be made from two section of aluminium alloy – riveted together and then machined/milled to the desired shape.
I do not think the upper and lower lugs are to be used on the final fin- they are to allow bolting of the fin to the milling machine base – before machining.
They would then be removed before use.
It also cannot be an antenna as it is solid.
Still not sure that the small fin is from any of the AIM-9’s. It certainly looks like a swivelling canard type but from an unknown type.
Thanks for all ideas so far.
Tony – thank you that is the design of Sidewinder fins that I have.
Proteus the small one is light the larger one is definitely heavy – several kg.
Thanks to both of you.
I have some sidewinder fins and they are similar design but different to the small one.
Photo reconnaissance blue as used on PR aircraft e.g. Spitfires from RAF Benson
German bomber tail wheel:
He also has what looks like an undercarriage leg cover – stamps, construction and paint colour look Russian and not same as the Yak ones I have seen.
Not sure that it is IL2 though.
He has also added a Napier lion cut down prop.
Mike – it was painted with:
Leonard Birchall – Saviour of Ceylon
The Nose Hatch is now in Germany!
Apologies
I was cleaning the controller last week but apart from that no progress!
No further contact from anyone in the USA who had parts or projects to sell.
I have about 50% less spare time than a year ago so time is limited at the moment but it is one of two major tasks that I have planned to start this spring.
The first is to do something with the Ju88 tail and this is the second.
Having acquired some B24 navigator blister windows – I had to buy the book Consolidated Mess to try and get my mind around the myriad B24 glazing options.
These pictures show the variety of turret, nose glazing, side window glazing etc. that was in use by the B24’s produced.
