Tonys bringing the Seafire.
I will be there on both days – at our stall.
Welcome to come and say hello!
TO – given some of the above comments on blondes – you had better get some more bromide in to surreptitiously add to the tea…
P.S. I always found that saltpeter was more effective….. Not that my noisy flatmate ever knew – all he kept on saying to his girlfriend was – it has never happened before…
oz jag – he has two large pieces by 60 Euros and 80 Euros delivery within Germany seems a bit steep
A more complete Russian cockpit project and An-2 anyone?
Is this the one that was on ebay a couple of years ago that used to be used as a dinghy with outrigger?
If I recall it was stainless with an opening in the upper from when used as a dinghy.
I was watching it both times it was listed to see what value was realised – sorry to see that it has not yet found a home.
Aircraft was 2100959 from the 4th ASAC :
After some discussion on the LEMB – it has been proposed that this is from a Bucker Bu181 Bestmann.
Seems to fit the pictures , size and construction.
Any of these under restoration that need a flap ?
Possibly this one

I took this picture of the F4 at Solway.
It looks like part of an F4 to me.
Just heard that the part was found in the Saarland near Thalexweiler/Lebach – if this helps…
From a chemistry perspective –
Atomic – related to atoms – comprise protons neutrons and electrons (quarks were not invented when I learned this stuff). Atoms comprise several layers of electrons around a central nucleus of protons and neutrons.
Nuclear – related to an atomic nucleus
So atomic and nuclear are the same (chemically).
In a normal atomic reaction – you fission (break) the larger molecule into smaller components.
In a hydrogen bomb – you surround the bomb with hydrogen- so that the heat causes nuclear fusion ( joining of the hydrogen to form helium).
SO I disagree that atomic and nuclear are related to different reactions.
I agree that fusion and fission are suitable descriptors of different reaction types.
Interested to hear that Niigata was a possible target – that is a long way in and back.
Whilst we are at it – can anyone help to trace the aircraft it came from ?
I bought it from a chap in Germany. He was investigating a WW2 crash site with his metal detector and found multiple hits. When dug – he found this stabilator and other parts – so obviously from an F4 crash in Germany.
Inside the end of the stabilator is a manufacture stencil.
Pagen – the small issue is that it weights >24 kg – it would be a very heavy lump of shiny metal (and if Ti – quite valuable).
Eric – it is 1.9 m long.
Thanks Merlin – previously it had been proposed as a bomb bay door or undercarriage door – as there were insufficient ribs/reinforcement cf FW190 flap.
However with the cloth and the wood thrown into the mix – is a low speed Landing flap an option?
