If a heritage center is built the idea is to move the dispersal hut next to it, through the grapevine not set in stone !
Happy new year, if you read Will Curtis post in the biggin bugle jan 2015 here http://www.johnwillis.co.uk/theclub/newsletter01jan15.pdf
They slate the airport openly for failing (in their opinion) to support the
heritage of the airport, all the time ignoring the fact that the airport has volunteered, for no reward,
to underwrite the cost of operating a heritage centre if it can be built and to underwrite the cost of
maintaining and protecting St. Georges chapel if and when the MOD decide to take it off their
books. It is difficult to see what more we might do to support the heritage of the airport.
Brief extract
However, despite the wording of the petition, it is unlikely that the site will be closed and unavailable for public access. That is not the MOD’s intention.
So no panic then.
Apparently Bromley council have had almost a million pounds for a few years now for a heritage center but haven,t released it all.!
This from a few years ago http://www.bromleytimes.co.uk/news/wrangle_over_biggin_hill_heritage_centre_for_battle_of_britain_heroes_1_1516679
The Chapel will be safe without the mod so no panic.
I met John Moffat at a talk he was giving a few years back, what a super man very jolly and would be classed as very brave by everyone except himself.
Merry Christmas John.

Bob, you are assuming the pilot has control , they can always depart east or west, surely if its so dangerous at Duxford then they should close the M11 .
The CAA have no control outside the airfield boundary. here is what is written in CAP 403 http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=33&pagetype=65&appid=11&mode=detail&id=32
7.5.5 At many events, particularly at airfield sites, the congregation of spectators, outside
the airfield boundary, on the live-side, may give organisers cause for concern. Neither
the Police nor the Local Authority has the power to remove these people, especially
if they have the permission of the landowner upon whose land they are congregating.
It is recommended that the Event Organiser anticipates this during the planning
process and takes necessary steps to reduce it by, where possible, blocking the view
from obvious vantage points. Consideration should also be given to notifying
landowners (or over water, pleasure boat owners) of the risks of allowing spectators
to watch the display/event from their land/vessel. Landowners/owners should be
advised that they have a liability to protect the public from obvious and anticipated
risks at public events, and, in the event of an accident, they could be held liable for
injuries to spectators on the property. It is advised that professional legal advice on
such notification is taken prior to action.
Oh thats very sad, met him at West Malling august 27th 1990, wrote a very nice message in his book for me. A really nice guy
