RE: What did you get your computer for ?

When I got my I had it upgraded right away as I wanted to play the latest flight sims (this was 4 years ago now), but I also bought it for my writing, and eventually the net as well. 🙂

I still have it! Runs well enough still for what I use it for, but look forward to a ‘dream machine’ next year. 🙂

    Regards, Glenn.

RE: MASSIVE BOMB KILLS 171 IN BALI TERROR ATTACK

Thanks guys. I have heard that only 2 Americans have been killed so far, and the Aussie toll is now 33 dead, with 140 still missing.

    Interesting developments too.

Evidence of C4 explosive found. Ex-Indonesian Air force man has apparently confessed to building the bomb, but won’t say who ordered the attack.

Still no one has come forth to claim responsibility.

    Regards, Glenn.

RE: What’s your weather like right now?

Sun, sun, and more sun. Around 27 degrees today, spring is short here, its more like a prelude to summer. I love the Gold Coast! Beach tommorow after work for sure. 🙂

OK, amid all the political debate the Australian death toll is now 30! This is TERRIBLE, and there are still well over 100 missing. Not sure how many other foreign nationals have been killed, can anyone help with that? We will have an official day of mourning on Sunday here.

    RE: Another sad, sad day

    >It was an angry reaction on my part to what I felt was
    >America-bashing on something as horrible as this. If you
    >feel it’s the fault of Americans, so be it.

I understand but again, I don’t blame the US for this tradegy. I believe our own government needs to re-think or reconsider it’s stance on this whole anti-terror campaign and following America’s ‘next’ step; that is the Iraqi problem. I am NOT surprised that we as Australians have apparently been targetted this time, and if those that are responsible turn out to be sympathetic to Al Qaida, or worse – linked, then what can I say? We had it coming, and were warned. We are NOT immune, no one who enters this fight is, or will be.

Also, I know that this attack has killed and injured dozens of other ‘western’ nationals, but the Australian number or proportion is HIGH! These clubs are well known hang outs for Aussie tourists, and the majority of tourists over there at any one time are Aussie. There are some 20,000 over there right now apparently.

I am not saying we should NOT stand up to it, if we are attacked we should defend ourselves of course, but with this WHOLE anti-terror campaign that we have entangled ourselves in behind the US there has to be another way – yet unexplored – to try and find a resolution. These people have a major problem with us (The West) and more fighting is only going to play right into their hands and help justify their own cause and produce tit-for-tat indefinitely. Who will prevail? With the anti-war feeling starting to grip a lot of American allies now, I don’t have confidence in the West winning this battle. When will it ever be over? Who knows, but how long are the free citizens of countries like Australia going to go on living in fear and paranoia supporting a government or an allied campaign that is not winning?

We in the West have a lot more to lose and they know that, we here in the west do not totally believe in a cause backed by an extremist view of our religion, they do, and will not stop until they get what they want. This is why I feel that we are digging ourselves into an unwinnable hole that will only bring more pain and suffering directly into our homes like never before, and for WHAT? The Australian population – especially – is divided about more fighting in this campaign, and while we remain divided with doubt and fear, we have no hope of ever outlasting those we are trying to hunt down and destroy.

I don’t have the solutions, but I surely hope someone out there does. If we continue to fight an arguably unwinnable war, and continue to wake up every day in fear of our lives from more bombings close to home or AT home just like the Israelis do from morning to morning, and believe our freedom is pretty much fractured, then the terrorists have already won!

    Regards, Glenn.

    > Now is not the time to blame Americans, Glenn. It’s
    >radicals of Islam killing Australians, not Americans.

I am NOT blaming the US, I am blaming our own policy of following the US into this questionable campaign.

    >They’ve basically declared war on Western civilization.
    >And what changes in our policy do you propose? Aquiesce to
    >the annihilation of Israel? Degrade our standard of living
    >because Western wealth and freedom insults Islamic poverty?
    >What?

The US does not put anywhere near enough pressure on Israel to curb it’s aggression, and they are the ones trying to help with the peace process!! This is hardly about living standards. This fight has been going on for ages, the problem is deep rooted, but the leading American presence that has been a fact in the Middle East region for sometime now has led – primarily – to US interests and now the US itself been attacked. These terrorists have a gripe with the West, and because the West is more or less led now by the US, they are striking at the head of a problem they see as a beast in their eyes. The attack of 9/11 has proven that they are serious about their belief, point is now, are we?
