KP-SAM
I think this is what you may be talking about?
length 1.68m
diameter 0.8m
weight 14kg
LR-AAMs
Some of the more interesting LR-AAM’s
The VFDR is a current project that could inform the next generation of US AAMs. Northrop was a contender in the AMRAAM programme and lost out to Hughes. Has anyone any pictures of the Northrop proposal?
Hyperwarp – US company Alliant Tech TERM-KE. what it is – 120mm anti tank kenetic energy guided projectile.
First post…is a fake…shadow of third person from the left is not on the wing, further more its a poor PS, need to look at the blur tool, mask some layers over the colour differrences between old Su-47 wings and new wing shape. I have not seen this photo before and the fake could have been done so much better. Still worth a look..thanks Deino.
Nice find Deino…I have seen many of your posts and they are always interesting. Deino can obviously tell the difference between fantasy – what if’s and informative illustration and real projects.
Myself I clasify projects the following way
1. Built and in service (a bit of a yawn – some much info out there)
2. Prototypes (interesting to see how design develops)
3. Models, Mock-ups and airframe manuafcturers submissions to programmes (interesting to see the evolution of configurations and ideas)
4. Manufacturers illustrations reflecting their current ideas (can be interesting if not always accurate so be aware of what they are trying to illustrate)
5. Aviation journels-magazines – artists impressions (interesting as often based on ideas and information provided by manufacters or reputable aviation people versed in design)
6. What if’s based on existing airframes and conceptual ideas
7. Fan art conceptualising possible aircraft configurations based on conceptual illustrations from aviation magazines and manuafcturers concepts.
8. Scifi stuff
Keep it all coming Deino
looking forward to see how Lockheed Martin progress the MPUAV concept…attached. Also a view of Lockheed’s morphing UAV
Sikorsky heavy lift
The X2 looks interesting, particular in light of Sikorsky’s proposal for the joint heavy lift programme for the Army and Marines. Not much has been released on Sikorsky’s proposal other than it will carry its payloads under slug with service crew in the cabin. (Bell proposal looks more interesting)
Artists impression of Sikorsky’s proposal and Lynx ABC type proposal by westland.
Clement Ader
Well thanks Ja for comments
The Clement Ader is a French proposal and a serious one at that. In the IDR article “two of the four catapults would be located off the runway. for safety reasons, an emergency landing strip should be avialable when the ship is operating out of reach of another aircraft carrier or an alternative airfield. The emergency runway could be used to park aircraft provided it could be cleared rapidly if necessary.”
What may not be apparent to everyone is that the two side catapults are in fact positioned some 5m lower than the flight deck making lighter fighter take off possible while recovering aircraft on…and NOTE one landing strip.
The twin landing strip version of the CVN-21 is Fan Art, I should have said, and has little credibility other than to suggest that it may be possible to create a twin landing strip carrier.
The third picture yellow/grey schematic is a concept that was given some thought for the CVX programme…however, the shape of the CVN-22 has yet to be decided. The US navy is not as conservative as you may thing…DDX, X-craft, Sea Shadow etc.
Clement Ader carrier concept
Clement Ader carrier concept – central positioning of bridge and control tower.
First question does amyone know if it is it French or American???
Artical in IDR-6-1985 outlined a aircraft carrier concept – ‘Clement Ader’
24,000t fitted with a CONAG propulsion instillation. reacor 22kts with gas turbine boast to 32kts for aircraft operations.
Hull length OA 220m or 721ft
Beam OA 60m
Flight deck 10,000m2
2 X centre catapults 75m to launch 22t aircraft
2 X side catapults 55m to launch 16t aircraft
Angled deack 5 degrees
Hanger 8,000m2 hight 5.8m
At 220m I wouldn’t call this a large carrier…thou strictly speaking its not a small carrier. Interesting deck layout with two double lifts. While not designed with UCAV in mind, I think the side catapults would be best used for these Vehicles. Attached drawing below along with two other concepts relating to the central positioning of bridge and control tower.
japans carrier progress
The DDGH looks set to happen. Japan is developing its aircraft carrying ships from the Shirane DDGH through to the Oosumi and now onto the new through deck DDGH design. Ultimatly the may be looking at F-35 carrying ships similar to the Italian Cavour.
Thanks Jai – much appriciated JAZZ
any body have any info or picture of Aeronatic Defense Systems Dominator UAV being put forward as a medium UAV for India??
The aircraft
pictures of ADDAX-S 1983, ADAX-1 STOL and AX-1 battlefield support aircraft.
the Ulyanovsk??
Two different carriers – Ulyanovsk is shown with two catapults and to STOBAR launch runs. The SOC’s drawing shows three catapults..? may be an earlier concept for Ulyanovsk
Flying Frisby
Tony Williams Well, we’ve got all of those, so where are they?
Well when I head down to the park…I always note how carefree the frizzbee lads are playing and the distances they get. The paper dart and glider boys seem frustrated for the most part….bad designs I guess.
Anyway little US company doing something interesting woth circular wings. Pix attached.
