SeaArrow-Sigma
Interesting to see that Royal Schelde has been working with Thales to develop stealth mast concepts for their cirvette and OPV designs.
attached images that show modifications to their designs to incorporate sealthy masts.
Blacjkcat
Hi the image is in fact some fan-art depicting the chinese J-13 fighter. It seemed to have more than just a passing resemblance to a number of line drawings depicting the Russian PAK FA which is why I posted it here. The actual place I got it was from http://www.centurychina.com/plaboard/forum.shtml , it was posted on the forum between June – Novemebr last year. Nice drawing…someone is very talented.
A real puzzeller
Hi Wilhelm – hard angle, but I have attached photos of South Africa’s BARB (an anti-radiation bomb) and their latest offering the Umbani – other guided bombs that come to mind is the French LGB and possibly Israel’s series of LGB’s. Ill leave you with the puzzel
PAK-FA and Rockwell??
Hi -Bring it on’
Im struggling to see the simalarities between the Rockwell ATF and picture posted …Its possible to see all sorts of similarities between planes. (unless I have the wrong Rockwell ATF if so please post) One thing I do think thatis similar is the rear vectoring nozzels – diffently an F-22 copy.
Illustration of IsNII PAK-FA
Interesting how many artists impressions seem to look more like F-22s. The drawings below have all been publish one-time or another in JDW, Aviation Week and flight Int. The final picture below them is fan-art of what the chinese j-13 may look like, but I think it also illustrates very closely the drawings published in the jounals…apart from the outward cantered tail fins.
Japans priorities
Japan is under no illussion as to who threatens there way of life and economy…hence the substantial reallocation of funds into missile defence and the reduced F-2 buy. This would suggest their future aircraft would be a modified F-15 or F-35.
The correct assessment of threats and the economics $$$ will determine the future fighter buy….threats and money make for intersting bed-fellows, and should japan and other asian counties seek more autonomy from the US…then it would be interesting to see how they may partner themselves in the future. The UK and France managed to produce the Concord, Jaguar, Lunx and Puma in the 60-70’s and still managed to be at loggerheads with each other over other policies. Threats and $$ make interesting partners.
Taiwan’s ramjet technology demonstrator
Attached is a photo (couple of years old now) of a mock-up of Taiwan’s supersonic missile. The programme has been running for some time. I do not know how much the most recent missile configuration used in the latest test matches the photo below. Things have a habit being modified over a number of years as different configurations are tested.
Nutcracker
A number of projects have been given consideration where the body of the plane is hinged relative to the remaining body and wings.
and of course the Skorpion UAV
A few more interesting VSTOLs
Interesting american developments late 1970’s…VFAX studies include one VSTOL concepts from Boeing and Grumman. I would like further information on these two proposals. Grumman also was proposing the Nutcraker as a possible VTOL for Destroyers and frigates…just an interesting concept..any have any additional photos
Eastern promise
Japan should consider developing a fighter industrial base with Korea, Taiwan and Singapore..the issues of money and technology look good..regional cooperation may be the stubling block.
