To be honest nearly all the charter airlines are the same and give the same service, although First choice do give a superior product to the rest even compared to traditional scheduled airlines on their long haul services.
However wilag you must have been unfortunate to have had crew that couldn’t have been bothered on your flights as you say, but all airlines have crew like this in one way or another. As for the state of the aircraft then i can’t comment but it was probably due for its heavy clean or may have had a short turnaround before your flight after ariving from another earlier in the morning because usually i have found there aircraft to be clean and tidy despite the amount of flights they sometimes do during the day in the summer season.
I have flown on their 767-200 before. In the summer they are fitted with 290 seats in dark navy blue leather with about a 29″ pitch and and are in a 2-4-2 8 abreast layout although they are not the new recaro ones they have on their 757 and 737-800s. I that this config is comfy enough for the short haul flights that they operate on during the summer. They were fitted with a refreshed interior (overhead lockers) a couple of years ago and also had new LCD tv screens fitted which give them a more modern look.
Only their 767-300s have been fitted with there new longhaul interior with seat back tv’s, although two have remained in the short haul 328 config.
Gd little report. I’ve got to say though, you will most likely be on a 757 again for your flight to Egypt as FCA’s 767s are all full on schedule for long haul flights only.
Will be a 767-200 🙂 Maybe you could do a trip report with some pics;) as these birds are leaving the fleet next year. Anyway have a nice flight and holiday.
Sorry can’t offer too much help but since no one else has replied, I suppose it’s better than nothing.
Yesterday(Wednesday) as far as I remember, it did MAN-RHO-MAN-LCA-MAN.
This morning it’s MAN-SKG-MAN, arriving back around 1530L, not sure where after that. The Glasgow based 767 seems to have a full long-haul timetable all week as far as I can see, operating to SFB today.
Brilliant thanks, yep it is better than nothing:D The only flights i knew that it has been doing is on a saturday, MAN-GRO-MAN-FUE-MAN.
Thanks again
I am going to Dublin on the same day! 😀
The last times that i visited there was a ticket machine outside the terminal building in front of the bus stops where you can get a ticket for travel for upto 90 minutes on any bus except the air link ones for just 2 or 3 euro, i usually buy two each (one for the return) as catching the bus back can be quite crowded in Dublin and it just makes it a bit easier knowing you dont have to pay the driver or get in the queues at the ticket centre. If you do choose to do this get the 16A bus from outside the terminal which takes you to O’Connell Street in the Centre of Dublin and takes around 50 minutes. If you want to get there quicker though get the 747 bus like MATaxi said ,which usually costs 6 euro and takes about 30 to 35 minutes.
Hope this helps.
It could be a rebrand of their image, probably to re-promote their self as it looks to be a new logo on the new website and they have added an easier to use online self booking section which will help attract more passengers at least. I’m sure that they will keep the Astraeus name though.
Nice little report and good to see you got one of the ETOPS planes for this short flight.
Can’t wait for your next report with Thomsonfly to Naples maybe with some pics too:D
Thanks
Nope shes over three years old this one;) But to be honest i think it looks ok.
This flight is scheduled to be a 767-300.
Hi,
On the subject of this, if you select to book online check-in priority boarding on arrival to Dublin airport would you be able to stay airside and wait for another flight like a connecting flight without going through arrivals and back through security? As everytime i have arrived in Dublin on a Ryanair flight you walk by the departure gate and the passengers ready to board your aircraft.
Thanks.
Last time i was on a flight where they did this the crew were explaining to passengers that it was for aircraft balance for take-off and landing and i have also heard its something to do with fuel saving if more weight is distributed around the C.O.G of the aircraft.
I really dont mind it, i think the tail looks and more bold and clean compared to the standard design.
I suspect the BA franchise department won’t be too impressed when they see this.
I don’t think that they will be too bothered afterall it is only temporary just for the summer season. Not much point spending the extra money on a full repaint of the aircraft just for 5- 6 months that it wil be leased for.
The daily Continental service from BFS to New York is operated by a 757.
Regards
John
The 757 can do the New york flights easily especially in CO’s seating cofig but FCA’s high density charter layout and that the flight distance to florida is almost 900 miles further then you will get what i mean.
🙂
FCA (First Choice) operate the A321 from East Midlands to Florida…
I’ve seen them when I was flying with easyJet and I’ve talked to the guy who’s done this flight:)
FCA operate the 767-300 from EMA-Florida and the A321 on their shorthaul charter flights. If they did ever operate the A321 from EMA to Florida then they would of had to stop to re-fuel a couple of times. The 757 has been used a few times on some longhaukl routes by FCA to cover for a tech aircraft but this is very rare and even this has to stop to re-fuel.
