    thanks, reason why I posted this is because this Argentine pilot kept mentioning that his ship (this was not too far after Falklands) was very comparable in size to an American carrier. whose name I kept forgetting :).

    Oriskany Decommissioned : Sep.20, 1976

    my apologies.. guess it’s not the Oriskany I was trying to look for. I was trying to find the aircraft load of the last “escort/light/non super carrier”.. and got the Oriskany mixed up for something else. All I remember is this carrier lasted all the way into the 90s. 🙁

    ^how about at the very end.. that’s what I’m most concerned about and stated from the very beginning? I’mnot sure, but I do believe it had F-18s.

    Er I think he meant the Essex class as a whole rather
    than the Oriskany itself.

    sort of 😉 me thoughts when they said 80, it was with WW2 era aircraft. I was thinking of something around 40-50 with a modern load.

    We must recognise that government sanctioned executions happen in democratic countries. Capital punishment is legal in many states of the US, in particular Texas where a certain Governor George W Bush presided over many deaths

    eh? since when was Singapore democratic? I always thought it was an authoritarian capitalist state?
