Flatpack is such an uninspiring name.. why couldn’t they name it Furby or Foogle.

I already provided a link to the manufacturers website, which has specs on it.

Don’t know if you noticed, but these days manufacturers often design a trainer and then develop a light attack aircraft on the basis of it. E.g. the MAKO advanced trainer and light combat aircraft being developed by EADS Military Aircraft, Korea’s T-50 Golden Eagle jet trainer and light attack aircraft, L159 advanced light combat aircraft (ALCA) by Aero Vodochody based on the proven L39 Albatros and L59 family of basic and advanced jet trainers, The Hawk family of aircraft by BAE SYSTEMS, the Yak-130/M-346.

Anyway, the issue is not whether Javelin is the same as T38. Rather, the question is what would do the job, looking at the air threat that Mexico faces. Realistically, a well armed combat version of an advanced or combat jet trainer would do. There’s not going to be a fight with the US, and it is extremely unlikely that Cuban or Honduran jets move anywhere near Mexican airspace. So, an LCA with good missiles and a gun would do fine.

Would Brazilian/Italian AMX be a viable option for Mexico?

my apologies to you penguin man, didn’t see the spec link. But after looking at it, I found nothing on what kind of engine it has and its specs.. so I remain a bit skeptical.

the HAWK, etc are all subsonic trainers.. the Javelin is a bit different in that it is supersonic. the T-50 already had the A-50 invisioned.

as for AMX..i dont think so.. it’s not exactly cheap.

i’m leaning to FC-1 or LCA for our Carne Asada eating amigos.

It’s comparable with the Northrop T-38 Talon in many respects. I suppose a light combat version (once developed 🙂 could have a performance approaching that of the F5 Tiger II.

what makes you think it can be compared to the T-38 Talon? Just because it looks similar doesn’t mean it’s comparable. Tell me then, the power it has, its structure, etc? I’ll tell you that the T-38 and almost every other aircraft of it’s type were derived from real combat aircraft.

Perhaps something like the Javalin advanced jet trainer / light attack jet would do nicely.

i dont think it has the power to do anything more than jet training.

seeing as how the Koreans will probably not develop the F-50, i’m not so supportive of it anymore. how about LCAs :diablo:

I can’t really put them in any order because sometimes I like the brute look of a MiG-25, and sometimes i like the “cute” look of the Rafale.

but my top 3 will always be:

    Rafale
    F-14 Tomcat
Su-35 or any single seat Flanker with Canards.

    the other 7.

    Su-47 Berkut
    YF-23
    MiG-25
    X-32 Monica
    Mirage 4000

love me flame me, i don’t care. If you ask me, I think the British gov’t should continue supporting the war on terror because they are partially responsible for the whole mess in the first place, a long time ago that is. It was the British (along with the French) that sought to hasten the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire (where conflicts between Jews and Muslims were nowhere near as bad as today), manipulate the situation in Egypt, made many irresponsible policies over Palestine/Israel, and their adventures in Iran. The latter two problems being transplated to the Americans.

hey guys, i didn’t say anything about Stealth, so no need to jump the gun on what stealth capability it has. Just wondering how such an aircraft would perform (at least as a conventional aircraft) in comparison to existing Russian aircraft.
