What are philoshpyes? Morrale and ethichal auchrorityes more than bit clever versions of religions, whos only task is to explain world from lack of sience and more importantly explaining to people why the current rulers are on power. Why would chinese/asian ideologyes be anyway better than European ones in that case?
it’s not just China. Japan had a very isolated policy.. Korea was a hermit kingdom, Vietnam wasn’t influential either. Only did Japan initiate major reforms the earliest. Thailand was a bit too late and too insignificant and China tried but they had some serious internal problems.. In the end it doesn’t matter.. oil powers economies and the west still has tighter control over them than any East, SE, or S.Asian country has. with most other regions already past peak production, and the middle east reaching peak within a few years, growth will slow down everywhere and no country will ever see the same dominance the US has in a long time. wow, have you bothered reading all the posts up until now? The Tomcat was extensively used during the entire Iran-Iraq war, that’s 8 years right there.. where a very large number of confirmed kills were made by Phoenixs. the Iranians have not only reverse engineered alot of parts for the Tomcats, but have even upgraded components of IT and the phoenix itself.

Well US is in America but the sosiety there was placed by the western europeans. Why Europe, in spite Europe isent the craddle of human evolution has become so dominant one, Why European powers were the ones that ‘united’ the world and made the route for modern global world. Why not china for instance? Its culture is almoust as old as the Mesopotamian culture and it have longer history than any european power? Why didnt the South American Empires rise to domination, Why did handfull of europeans wipe down whole native population to obvilion?
Could it be racial issue? It seems radical to say but there are racial differences between Asians and Europeans. Well seriously i hope no one things so…Is it cultural thing, some ones have better way of creating civilization, What? I have my own theoryes but past has showed me that this could venture into intresting if I (and those others who migth know what Im thinking here) keep it att abay so the obinions could be exchanged. well since HE is still asleep, i guess i’ll fill in for now. I think the one good thing about the Phantom (other than the fact that they are capable of making parts in it.. which is like giving a 60 year old man a new heart and new muscles in your language) is it’s payload. The MiG-29s them Iranians got don’t seem to do alot.. the centerline will be taken up by the fuel tank.. the two inner pylons seem to be the only ones cleared for heavy ordinance (i’m not sure, i’m just judging this on what i see in pics)..and the outer 2 for short range AAMs.. it seems to be the perfect load for a plane destined for point defence than escort.. and rightfully so.. no wonder they got them stationed all at the major cities while the other aircrafts are more scattered. Plus with the Su-24 in inventory..wouldn’t it make sense to make the F-14 the escort instead?

I have heard the same.. Fulcrum does not bring anything necessarily new into their inventory.. As with reverese engineering, that could be a big problem, start with Russian metric system, totallly different world of GOTS norms or tolerances, no wonder they stick to US designs..

it’d be cool if they reverse engineered the Fulcrum, but I don’t think Russia will be too happy 😀 besides.. they now got an F-5 variant, a dedicated strike aircraft, and two heavy fighters.. seems to be a good all around range..

That’s not a problem of the design itself. They are free to buy whatever they need to make them multirole..
which is true too, however the Iranians haven’t. Right now their industries have managed to reverse engineer a significant percentage of parts for the F-4 and F-14 and even made an F-5 variant. This isn’t the case with their MiG-29 fleet… they had a recent contract with Russia to refurbish them. No interest in upgrades I believe… however again, from Tom Cooper, he says the Iranians were unimpressed by the Fulcrums.
but if it makes you feel better, they sure seem to love the Su-24!

which brings us to another thing. Seems like the Iranians are missing alot of kits for their MiG-29 to use them in any other way other than point defence.

hmm, aren’t the F-4’s usually the ones who escort the Tomcats? But I’m sure the Iranians are aware of the MiG-29’s lack of range as they modified them with a refuelling probe.
From both A-C-I-G, and Scramble, the MiG-29s are primarily based in Tabriz, with some in Tehran.. the F-14’s are not located there, but scattered over many other air bases.. which I guess implies that the 29 never was intended to be used with the Tomcat.

I’m leaning towards the radar, It does seem that they upgraded it. In 2001, the Iranians unveiled a new missle, the Sedjil, which the F-14 will use. They also got some program going on with the engine too 😮

Unless the Russians are willing to give full tech transfers, and allow the Iranians to produce every single component than it’s unlikely. What does the Su-30 have to offer when the Iranians have already began reverse-engineering components for the F-14? US gov’t estimates puts the Iranians at being able to reproduce 55% fo the F-14.. while Tom Cooper puts it at 90%. Buying the Su-30 would be a waste as it throws away all that effort into reverse engineering. Even the Chinese had to go to other sources in order to make their own stuff in their J-11s.
Two others questions
– can the Iranians make “reverse engeneering” with the AIM-54 ?
– were can I found news or pictures about Iranians tomcats?
Iranians are making a BVRAAM, that’s for sure. not sure if it is a copy of the AIM-54 or something new. pictures at A-C-I-G, go google it.
