The latest seems to be that the Pakistan authorities know the names as well as the roles of the four arabs killed and that they were high up in the terrorist food-chain.

    Sauron

surprised no one mentioned that, while some innocents did die, so were those capable of killing many more.

    That’s news to me.

To the best of my knowledge, even the U.S. Navy never managed to shoot down an enemy with the Phoenix.

I counted 74 kills/damages caused by Iranian Phoenix, about 90% of which are confirmed kills.

It is a breach of the Geneva convention and, therefore, a war crime to delibirately target civilians even if military units are present in the area. Whichever way you look at this its bad for the US.

I thought the US isn’t a participant of the Geneva convention?

] you’re one of the few Chinese members here who seems to have at least some interest on Japanese stuff

Sounds like the “An AOLer who doesn’t s_ck” kind of compliment, IMO. 8D
FYI, back when I was a part-time flame-baiter in the soc.culture.japan.* and similar Usenet newsgroups for years, primarily pro-Canada and pro-China, I’d to do my homework and have more than at least some interest on Japanese stuff, to be effective and taken seriously, before twit-filtered.
(And I’m an anime fan, but don’t cosplay.)
Incidentally, I was also a regular in the rec.aviation.military and similar Usenet newsgroups for years, besides playing a shipload of combat flight sims. Certainly enjoyed chatting with WWII and Viet Nam vets.

Apparently four of the victims were children – surely you’re not going to suggest that they were hardened terrorists?

No. However, they’re less likely to agree in future because of something like this – unless they really want to completely alienate themselves from the population.

what were they doing with Al Qaeda officials?

how do you know if they are innocent? it’s something Pakistan’s government wants to double check on.

    Complaints, complaints. Sigh.

Seriously, seems one IJN/JMSDF tradition is curry as Friday night dinner?

Don. So you’re saying that because of an out-of-date constitutional article that was forced upon Japan by the allies in the 1940s, Japan can’t have an airforce? I think that we’ve all moved on from there.

The fact that Japan still hasn’t completely scrapped Article 9 shows its sincerity in being peaceful. No one can seriously expect Japan not to have a military, especially since a certain mainland state that is a run by a weirdo who believes himself to be a cross between a peasant and Elvis has threatened it with nuclear weapons, as well as test-firing a long-range missile over it.

I feel sorry for you.. there’s hordes of ultra Chinese nationalists in this forum (and many other forums).. but rarely, if ever, any Japanese to argue back.

Part of MD (Missile Defense), JDA will purchase 36 SM3 ship-mounted intercept missiles from USA.
In 2008, JMSDF Aegis destroyer JDS Kongou, based at Sasebo JMSDF Base, Nagasaki Prefecture, will deploy to Hawaii, USA, to test-fire one SM3.
Aegis system on JMSDF Aegis destroyers also will be upgraded to launch and guide SM3, longer range than current SM2.
