Hey, i’d rather see an F-16 clone than yet another real F-16. At least the clones are a bit different, and thankfully on the K/F-50 they have done away with the silly suckbelly. Besides PII, if you don’t like F-16 clones, how come you’re always jumping to the defense of the Ching-Kuo?

Also, i don’t it’s fair to compare one of those Chinese domestic รผberdeveloped MiG-21s with one of capitalist Asia’s “engineering-consulted” fake-F-16s. Firstly is the MiG-21 a really cool aircraft and as such way above any comparison with the Lawndart, and furthermore the Chinese did their further developing of the J-7 (with the possible exception of the J-7III/IV) on their own, rather than hiring American engineers.

And please, don’t decide for me or anyone else which aircraft i’m sick of. Everyone knows there is only one aircraft which makes my sour erupt…

Definately a Mangusta, not a Rooivalk. The latter has got a different tail arrangement, see my comments on the original thread.

See the pole on which the model is mounted, Google? That’s why the holes are there ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Niels,
It looks like an AIM-9X model to me. The newest variant of this missile has quite different fins when compared to the more common variants. But you would’t want a marketing model fitted with anything but the latest toys, obviously.

Come and think of it, when i see that loadout of six AGM-65s, two JDAMs, two AMRAAMs, two Xwinders and a centrally mounted fuel tank, i can’t help but wondering if they aren’t secretly planning to have the F-50 come with a chickenwing-bucketholder in the cockpit too. Kinda negates the whole ‘light fighter’ issue if you try to be serious with such loadouts…

Nothing as effective as a proper demonstration of exactly how annoying it is ๐Ÿ˜€ And i guess it might inspire some people at the bus forum, which i hardly visit anyway because i always feel terribly epileptic after a while there.

Shhh, don’t tell! But the F-50 is definately a lot closer to the Light Fighter the F-16 was supposed to be. But you know, that Texan diet just made it too darn heavy. In Korea it will be easier for the F-50 to keep of the buckets of lard-fried chicken wings ๐Ÿ™‚

Except for the two holes to put the model on it’s stand. I have to agree with Sean, it looks awfully similar to the F-16’s centreline droptank.

Best one is the Dutch insurance ad, set in North Korea or a very similar country…

    Aditya,
The Mainstay on the pics definately is not a Russian A-50. It simply isn’t the right airframe for that. The Chinese A-50 (the badge on the tail does seem to match with the one from CFTE as posted by HT) has a lot more in common with the airframe we know as the A-50I, which is quite different from the regular A-50s. Please read my initial posts on this thread, it’s being explained there.

Now the problem with the A-50I which was at Ben Gurion is that it had appearantly left Israel back for Russia without radar. Considering the aircraft was bought by China (i’m talking airframe here, not an eventual radar aboard), seeing an A-50 in the PRC which in the posted pics seems to be identical to the A-50I (which was a Chinese aircraft to begin with) does make a pretty solid argument that this aircraft is indeed the same. You don’t have to believe it, but i doubt you can substantiate your disbelief in any sort of way.

Also, i would like to know about your claim that A-50s have visited the PRC in the past. Done any planespotting there then?

As for that helo in the background of that radar pic: WTF? It’s not a Rooivalk which has a different tail (the Rooivalk’s tail is much lower, and has a tailplane fitted high up the fin while the one on the pic has a low tailplane), but it does look an awful lot like an A129 – in fact i can’t see why it shouldn’t be an A129. Is it simply a pic from NRIET’s website (yes, i’m too lazy to check myself)?

I think Distiller is suggesting we stop using our sperm for decorational purposes?
Or trying to plug a new TV series: Suic-Idols. Thousands of depressed adolescents can go out and get themselves humiliated on TV, and finally one gets chosen and awarded a piece of string.

It’s nice to see the marquee tag has really gone out of fashion lately. Even at the bus forum it’s no longer fashionable, which is good because i absolutely hated it
