Quite a few out of the 17 built survive, but not enough of course. There is one 144 outside Russia, at Sinsheim in Germany. While being a horrible museum (the most awful fake paintjobs), they also have a Concorde so it would be a nice place for comparison.
The Tu-144LL CCCP-71144 which has been used by NASA is reported to be going to a Belgian museum sometime this year. If all goes according to plan, that is.

Sorry to foul this thread up with the nasty stench of parrafin, but there is a MiG-23BN wreck in the background. Does anyone know what else was around at the place where these Fireflies were recovered?

Whatever it would be, i want something to make me feel flying. So it should either have lots of acceleration and altitude (MiG-25, SR-71/F-12/A12, F-104, Su-15), or something nimble to jank around with at low level (OV-1, OV-10, O-1, Su-25, A-10, Il-2).

And as Pegasus pointed out, a transport jock since with those you’ll get at least a chance to see something of the world.

Uhh… there is more to aviation contracts these days than just the pieces of paper (usually an An-225 load of paper). Lots of speculation beforehand, lots of uncertainties when the contracts are signed, lots of malcontents when the contracts are finally signed. I don’t think it’s a smart idea to have one thread with all this jibberish from around the world. Just look at the Gorshkov threads, or those on Typhoon deliveries/schedules.

Hey, then i wanna see. That Belarussian flag would be the red one with green and white? They namely had two: from their independence to 1996 they had a white flag with a horizontal red stripe in the middle, but Lukashenko re-introduced the Soviet-era (red, with some white embroidering near the pole and a low green bar) flag minus the hammer and sickle.

A smaller red star seems to have been reported before, it was thought to be an attempt at going low-viz.

The MiG-29BM upgrade is a combined project from the former 558ARZ at Baranovichi (the Belarus maintenance facility, of Lybian and Yemenite Su-22 fame amongst others) and a few Russian companies.

Uhh…. i assume you posted that L-39 Albatross as an illustration to the word ‘Boring’? Never mind you flew along, but an L-39 being an exciting, good looking jet… naaaah.

Thanks for posting that Su-27 + Tu-134 pic Ken! That was the first time i ever saw a Flanker in real life (Boscombe Down, 1992), and a spectaculair way it was. It’s stange though, there were thousands and thousands of people watching that, yet pictures of that are hard to come by. Perhaps everyone was looking in awe and forgot to take photos? I know i was.

Nope, it’s not a Mystère of any kind. It’s a Canadair Sabre Mk.6 or CL-13B. It’s a bit comparable to the F-86F, only faster and with a higher ceiling. Israel ordered 24 in 1955, but Canada blocked them because of the Suez crisis. In stead, the IDF/AF ordered Mystère IVs in France.
