It might have not occurred to you just yet, but your famous emotional knee-jerk outbursts like above somehow never do you any good. For one reason or another you always end up restating or correcting your initial responses, making other pretty dumb or erronous remarks at the same time. It’s not that i mind (absolutely not, i’m having great fun at your expense 😀 ), but if there is one thing you should have learned at this board, it is to think before you type. If you would, i’m sure you would get a lot more of the respect you think you’re entitled to from your fellow posters.

If you’re correct, there is no reason to correct you. And yes, if we’re pointing out certain things you stated are nonsense, insensitive, biased or whatever, we ignore the things which don’t need correction. That’s what correcting (or responding) is all about. You DID state that dropping A-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki helped preventing all of Europe to be speaking German. Which was a stupid thing to say – not only because you know better, but also because you have a better grasp of your native language than that.
I’m sure that the idea of Americans learning that in school is something you people get kicks at , but it’s certainly not the case.

Nonsense. Both Air Marshall Arthur Harris and Gen Curtis LeMay deliberately wanted to kill as many civilians as possible, and planned their missions as much to meet this goal as possible. Firebombing civilian centres will do less damage to infrastructure than explosive bombing, but will kill more people. Now, with what weapons were Dresden, Kassel, Hamburg and most Japanese cities hit again?

Considering the eagerness in which you take criticism on the US as personal and vice versa, i’m seriously thinking you are paranoid. But that’s just me.
…I even have great respect for those who fought for the Axis that died (the ones that were simply following orders and serving their country in what they might have thought to be the right thing to do at the time).
Trying suggestive language is nice Phantom, but if you do so, THINK about what you’re typing. I could interpret the quote above as “i respect Axis soldiers who thought it was the right thing to do to serve their country by gassing jews, killing bolsheviks and raping Nanjing”.

And some of you make a good point about the whole “Jap” reference (and I do apologize for that one), but at the same time if I feel that being called a Yankee is an insult am I not entitled to not be called that just the same?
Apologising between brackets is a bit modest, isn’t it? It’s sad that you only realise that such names are considered derogatory if the Yankee-analogy is brought up. And yes, you are not entitled to be called a Yankee if you consider it an insult. It’s a collective insult, which can easily be understood as racist. Insults should be individual.
Regarding the P-40 issue……..at no point did I ever say it won the war so stop putting words into my mouth.
You only repeatedly (every month or so) climb on your P-40 soapbox, claiming it was an ‘incredibly important’ aircraft during WW2, which it wasn’t. A useful tool in keeping the enemy at bay until truely superior fighters emerged, yes. But somehow this and other arguments are ignored by you just as often as they are brought up. And even when you finally shut up, that very same soapbox is mounted a month or so later.

I find it absolutely pathetic if people don’t realise what they are saying.
Rests to say, that i think you are completely right in mentioning this thread is taken far too seriously, and should be seen far more laxed. Like that hilarious wound-up kid who went completely ballistic when somebody mentioned Allied bombing raids, or having a nice unprovoked slur at Syria.
