But indeed, an over-zealous Greek interest in them for being of possible Alexandrian descent could really choke the original culture. Sending out anthropologists not to research the Kalash themselves, but to prove their Greek heritage is not the way to go – it will choke their own indigenous culture, especially if the society itself is as small as 4000.

Nope, the reasons mentioned in the article are not the reasons people get sick of the US of A. It is the attitude and sheer ignorance that people in the US take articles like these for fact, while the thought hasn’t even come up to ask the rest of the world why they “hate” (American perception, not the emotion felt amongst the people i know) the USA.

As for contempt for democracy, i’d suggest you to check the percentage of voters turning up for American elections with those for national European elections.

But you really should concentrate on driving more than picking the craters in your nose. :D:p

There were two good things about Behind Enemy Lines:
– A very, very persistant SA-8 which after lots of turning & burning shot down an F/A-18F (the movie could have had a happy ending right there)
– The song you mentioned.

I think Swedish Designer Drugs was played quite a bit on Dutch public radio and the alternative-ish commercial radio, but indeed i picked it up primarily from listening to Belgian radio, I must say that Belgian radio is nice to listen to – and even while i don’t like listening to Donna, about a year ago they had an advert in movie theatres… die was echt geil!

I think quite a few Belgian artists don’t get the international acclaim they deserve. I really think Gorki is excellent and definately beats the crap of all the current dutch-language rock groups we have up here (as you might know, the Tröckener Kecks no longer exists – it seems Rick de Leeuw is becoming a VRT talkshow host?).
But other Belgian stuff was really great too. Front 242 was really innovative back then, dEUS is still great, and the amount of punk bands coming out of Belgium… even those which sucked didn’t get all pretentious like those ones from up here.

Manu Chao is great. I know he’s too much of a commie ******* for a semi-fascist redneck cowboy like you :D, but he’s a lot of fun to listen to. The energy of a live concert of him is incredible, and at least you should respect the guy for sampling his own work. Mano Negra was indeed more fun and less politics, definately a plus for them… and while we’re at it, what about Les Negresses Vertes?

KFC isn’t really consistent. The one at Vaclave Namesti in Prague is pretty decent (ate there more than once, if that’s an indication) while there are a few which made me think if a can of cold ravioli or dog food wouldn’t have been a better choice.
