Suffering from NIH-syndrome, Bager? McDonnell-Douglas was so impressed by the Br941 that they tried to market the design as their own. Ever heard of the MDD 188?

There was significant practical interest for the 941 from the USAF, although the direct need for it went away when they took over the Army’s C-7s in 1967 and still later the AF realised how little it wants to do with mud and dirt.

Wide-bodied up-engined YC-14, with lots of dangly things on leading and trailing edges for carrier and STOL-ops optional.

Finally they are realising the Jerkules is a Jeep-transporter in a Humvee-military.

Romania built the Alouette III, Puma, Islander and BAC111 in license, and they were even in the Warsaw Pact.

Yugoslavia was a communist country, but they were not a member of the Warsaw Pact and most certainly weren’t part of the Soviet block. They were free to buy their equipment on the world market. IIRC their Sabres were mostly ex-RAF Canadair Sabres (called F-86E in service) apart from a number of radar-equipped F-86D’s.

Their F-84F Thunderjets were ex-USAF (48TFW) and new-built.

…and it comprises the Sarang acrobatic team (one of the only 3 globally).

There are currently 7 official helicopter display teams in the world. Apart from team Sarang there are:

Patrulla Aspa – Spain, EC120
Berkuty – Russia, Mi-24
I don’t know the status of the JGSDF helicopter teams, but they used to have two OH-6J teams, and one flying the AH-1.

And not too long ago, there were the Dutch Grasshoppers (Alouette III), the Belgian Blue Bees (Alouette II), a Swedish team with Hkp5’s (or Schweizer/Hughes 300s if you will). Never mind the one-season display teams formed by individual units throughout the years (like the Swiss Puma’s).

Are those the “Blinders”?

Russia’s Blinders were all gone by 1995. The picture Otaku posted shows a glorious line of preserved beauties at Engels. Unfortunately it’s a mere shadow of the glorious pile of 93 Tu-22s I saw there in 1996…

Ukraine flew it’s Blinders until 1997 or 1998. Lybia probably stopped flying them in the mid-1990s. So they have all been retired quite a bit longer ago than earlier this year.

Actually, the deal Serbia got after Allied Farce was a far better one than the deal on the table at Rambouillet. The Rambouillet proposal was for all of Serbia to become under UN jurisdiction, making Serbia de facto without sovereignty.

After Allied Farce, only Kosovo got under UN jurisdiction.
