Two pictures of ZK-ARP taken at Dairy Flat when I visited in 2009 and was kindly shown around by Stan Smith. The aircraft still carries its original ownership plate on the inside of the port door showing G-AIEO, R.K Dundas, 4St James Street, London, SW1 on it.
At the time of my visit the aircraft has been slightly damaged on its horizontal stabiliser and so was not airworthy.

North Weald has a long established links to Harvard operations and would be another option.
It not only has it suiatbale grass and hard runways, engineers with the licences to look after Harvards, good transport links to international airports should the owner wish to visit and the noise issue would not be a problem, given there are two Harvards/SNJs in residence already.
If the operator wants to find out more I suggest contacting North Weld Flying Services/The Squadron or Weald Aviation for further details.

PS I am not employed by either of the above organisations
Just a quick reminder that The Air-Britain Classic Fly-In is taking place this weekend at North Weald (Matt here is the original post)
Austers, Chipmunks, Terriers and Condor are our theme aircraft but all aircraft welcome. No landing fees, trade stands and a good social atmosphere See website for arrival details
The weather looks set fair, we already have aircraft joining us from France, Belgium and Holland and we hope to get a good mix of vintage, classics and modern aircraft, so please come and join us at EGSX’s friendly Fly-In
I look forward to saying hello to some of you.

This aircraft was at Oshkosh in 2009, so its not a new development.

DCW, Dave?
I would suggest that G-AKAV & G-AHXR are taken at Fairoaks and G-AJOM and G-AIAJ are Stapleford

The Gemini at Dairy Flat G-AKHW, it can be seen on the right of this photo, which was taken when I visited in July 2009.
I was told that it was not a priority restoration at that time and it could be several years before completion.

The Beech 18 at North Weald is definitely not abandoned, Mr Edwards (of Catalina and DC3 restorations fame) has been working on it intermittently since last summer, in June last year it was taxied under its own power for the first time in a number of years.
I believe the plan is to get it fit for a ferry permit, then to fully restore it. I don’t know where that restoration might be as that has not beem finalised when I last spoke to Mr Edwards.

I am a director of an aviation enthusiasts association and fly-in organiser and we too have been trying to grapple with this issue of attracting new and younger members. I agree with the comments of others that nudging etc seems to be the way forward as noone has yet found the panacea to what seems to be a collective problem for our “sector”.
Full marks to Newark on taking that initiative and I too would be interested in seeing the results of the students efforts.
Clearly there is a need for the likes of museums, airshow organisers, enthusiast bodies and like-minded aviation related organisations to build interest for their own and collective benefits, particularly when individuals think even more carefully on where and how they spend the “disposable income”.
Is there an opportunity here to perhaps consider putting collective minds together to share thoughts and expereinces for the greater good?

Sorry you can’t be with us, but your PA-22 will be most welcome as it is one of our theme types
With the PPR bookings climbing well over 70 with aircraft coming from as far as Switzerland (A Falco) by the time I left North Weald this evening, its looks as if we could be busy with an interesting array of aircraft
The first arrival for the Fly-In actually arrived this afternoon all the way from the Czech Republic in the rare shape of a L-20 Meta-Sokol

Following further discussions within the last week with the CAA/NATS the arrivals (& departure) arrangements for North Weald during the Air-Britain Fly-In have been amended to ease the burden on Farnborough and Essex Radar, to help all pilots, and to enable non-transponder equippped aircraft easier access to NW for our event.
Details of the changes, which I hope is self explanatory, can be found on our updated website http://www.air-britainflyin.co.uk/html/arrivals_by_air.html
If you have any questions about this please contact The Squadron at North Weald on +44 (0)1992 524510. For those yet to arrange your PPR slot for Saturday or Sunday arrivals these are filling fast so please contact the Squadron soon. (NO PPR is required for Friday arrivals).
Please pass this information to any fellow pilots who plan or may wish to join us.
I look forward to seeing some of you at North Weald this weekend.
