Just because they have not done the CAD work to make the shape of the aircraft it does not mean that there is not the 50-50 R&D in the aircraft. Just doing CATIA/FE models doesnt mean you can make a aircraft and nor does it teach you how to make one.
The real learning is in actually making the structure and India will learn from this if it is clever enough.
I guess what goes around, comes around…
Hmmm…fighter jet porn…I need to get out more ๐ฎ
Why would anyone go to the lengths of censoring the image of the J-20, only to leave one of the tail surfaces exposed?
Block 15 – A, undergoing MLU at TAI?
Yes, I believe the first batch was sent to Turkey in October, they transited through Jordan and appeared in the FAM excercise.
From the rediculous to the sublime…
An interesting article in Aviation Week & Space Technology regarding the JF-17, on page 31.
lol, and I bet they’ll call it something ridiculous like ‘Thor’s Hammer’ or ‘Titan’ ๐
But it seems like a private venture for the civil sector? Not sure what use such a microlite would provide though…
Incremental because while the engine and sensor upgrades my improve field performance, it still retains the original armament of 4 cannons, so no real improvment in capability.
And difference between Shilka and Tunguska, I’m sure that’s quite obvious isn’t it, considering the generational difference between the two systems?
Shilka upgrade
India has 90 Shilkas, all being upgraded by BEL & probably BDL India, with 48 in Phase 1. First due next year.
Indian Army To Receive Upgraded Schilka Tanks Next Year
Seems rather inefficient to upgrade such an old and obsolete system doesnโt it? Wouldn’t it be appropriate to acquire more Tunguska systems, with the added capability to fire SAMs? And the tender was released in 1997?! why has it taken 13 years for such an incremental upgrade to an obsolete system?!
Coming back on track. Pakistan is once again actively looking at Netherland’s Viper fleet. Maybe all that talk about USA selling second hand vipers at inflated rates is true. Also PAF was looking at LockMart to do the MLUs. But gave the project to TAI when it undercut them by some margin during the bidding.
Don’t you mean the Norwegian Viper fleet?
http://www.brecorder.com/news/latest/16729:news.html
Even then, I doubt whether the PAF would go for these or any European Viper fleet, they probably have more flight hours than the PAF Block 15 A/B fleet given the restriction on flight hours during the embargo years.
Ok, my bad, showing 23 pages for me. Although it seems you may be kept busy to keep it alive ๐
Mods, now may be an opportune time for a new thread? Over 20 pages, which is the limit these days isn’t it?
Slightly off topic, but the above claims are rather far fetched. I doubt whether Pakistan could operate a nuclear attack sub, the costs would be too high. Maybe if it is highly subsidised by the Chinese, but I doubt that. Not to mention the political implications, there’s already enough concerns in the west over Pak nukes, I’m sure handing over a nuke sub would raise a few issues.
Are there any further details on the Erieye acquisition being partly funded by the Saudis, apart from; ‘…it is believed…’
I think the P-3 Hawkeye deal is pretty much dead now, most likely be a varient of the ZDK-03, if any, for the PN.
I think the generation issue is mostly due to differences between US notation and European/SAAB definition? I think the Chinese use something similar to Euro/SAAB version?

if its so great as Eagle suggests, then why bother with J-10Bs?
I would take such hubristc claims, such as the above, with a pinch of salt. It’s simply one individual’s account, and can only act as a guide.
