Great, thanks for the info Multirole, much appreciated 🙂
A more clearer video of the JF-17 performing at Zhuhai, some real close up action.
Oh, thank you Rookh, what a relief! *Mumble mumble… must learn to formulate understandable sentences..*
lol Pardon, what was that you say? 🙂
About Thunder, is the potential sale to Egypt still on? And if so, anything new regarding this lately?
Seems like there’s an issue with the engine solution? And the Russian’s want to muscle in on the action?
To all those Queen fans out there, I think you’ll like this 🙂

A little hazy again, but shows the impressive agility of the aircraft, especially the take off!

To any Chinese speaking folk out there, any chance we could get a brief synopsis of this interview?
Rumor has it that Pakistan has been gifted four L-15 LIFT aircraft.
This is complete BS, the PAF have not been ‘gifted’ 4 L-15s. There’s currently only 6 prototypes, of which 4 are actually flying examples! The L-15 is still in developmental stages, and hasn’t even been confirmed to be taken up by the PLAAF yet. It will be quite some time before the PAF recieve any, assuming they get any at all.
Apparently, a JF-17 has been reported to be flying or in trials with the WS-13, a Chinese engine solution for the aircraft. It may be a while before that gets fully integrated for the JF-17, hence these additional RD-93’s for the first few batches.
Glad you like the pictures 🙂
I certianly don’t intend to do anything with the JF-17 🙂 … however, the PAF has stated they’re happy with the latest batch of avionics/weapons for the fighter, I can’t really say if this will change anytime soon or in the future. It does appear the intended French avionics/weapons package is off for the time being. I guess in theory anything is possible, but I think AMRAAMs on the JF-17 appears highly unlikley for now. For one, I think they’ve been acquired in too small numbers (~500 or so), so those will only really be used by the F-16s. And secondly, for the JF-17 to use the AMRAAM, it would ideally have to use some western/US avionics/radar package, which seems unlikely at the moment.
The WS-14; WS-10; WS-15 (core); WS-9; WS-500; and WS-13.
What class is the WS-14? Any further specs on this engine?
HQ-18/S300 and maybe other SAM systems, 25 JF-17s by the end of this year, and first ZDK-03…seems like quite a shopping list from China 🙂

The serial number for this machine is 10-116. Any ideas about the serial numbers for the remaining two? If I remember correctly, it was 10-113 and 10-114 that made to Farnborough???
Added later: Saw some more pics, and the other two appear to be 09-112 and 10-113. Can anyone please confirm?
Yes, it appears the 3 JF-17s are 112, 113 and 116. Here’s a nice walk around 112 and 116 by a Chinese reporter;

It appears this link may no longer be working. Here’s the clip in 4 parts, shame about the hazy weather conditions;

Ok, my bad regarding Erieye having 360-degree coverage. The KJ-200 is supposed to have radars located in the nose tip and tail, to overcome those blind spots and provide 360-degree coverage. I assumed the Erieye may have something similar.
It seems the current reports are suggesting an AESA in a mechanical rotadome, similar in configuration to the E-2D. The KJ-200 is also an AESA with 360 degree coverage, similar in performance to the Erieye, so the ZDK-03 having 360 degree coverage doesn’t automatically make it superior to the KJ-200. There’s still no real performance details out, so difficult to compare, but I believe cost may have been the ultimate reason why the KJ-200 wasn’t selected. IMHO, I also doubt whether the ZDK-03 will be superior in performance to the KJ-200.

Thanks, that’s what I thought so! PAF fanboy rumour mill working overtime it seems! 🙂
I don’t know about TOT, but the ZDK-03 was developed pretty much solely for export.
Is there any information regarding it’s capabilities? How does it compare to, say, the Hawkeye and the Erieye? Any figures on the range, endurance and number of consoles?
No real details as of yet, but it appears to be an AESA. So I assume it’s perhaps not a conventional mechanically steered rotadome, but rather fixed?
