Correction: lower FSC instead of lower RCS for the M-88

Your state in your example that each country as their own weapons

The point was that there will be more weapons available. It doesn’t depend on who paid for the integration.

The rafale too if the US lift the embargo toward the rafale.

No. It doesn’t depend on any embargo. Singapore has this weapons already or will get them together with the JSF. But they are not integrated into the Rafale.
The British and the Italians will operate the JSF/Typhoon combo as well. Germany uses many U.S. made weapons.(Harm, Harpoon, etc.) How many are in the inventory of France ? The only U.S. weapons I heard of that are cleared so far for the Rafale are Paveway II & III.

    That’s the only one ?
I fear that Koreans officers would disagree with you here.

What else ? That they already got the big external tanks ? That the CFT’s look much better ? That the MFD’s are a bit bigger ? Or that the images made by the OSF are in colour compared to the IR-images made by the pirate ? I personally like the M-88 a bit more than the EJ-200 because of it’s lower weight and lower RCS. But this is not substantial. I could start with 100 little things that are in favour for the Typhoon, but do these things a big difference ?

The problem of the Rafale is in my opinion, that the french were unable to find international partners. They tried to get the Netherlands, Danmark and (dont know exactly 😮 ), Norway and Belgium as partners. (All northern European F-16 users) But as you all know they prefered the JSF. Singapore maybe a chance, but I would rather go for Typhoon, since it will be aible to carry the same weapons as JSF. I would rate the chances in Saudi Arabia a bit higher. They seem to buy fighters for the amusement of the royal family, and the Rafale appeals to many as the sexier fighter.
Switzerland could be a possiblity and eventually Greece after the election.
Rafale has only one advantage over Typhoon, and that is the carrier variant. But who has carriers and won’t buy JSF or MiG-29K ? 🙁
Maybe Brasilia has the money for them in ten years.
After all, European aircraft companies can only hope for further delays and cost overruns of the JSF. (Or the dissatisfaction of partnernations) 😀

    http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/gripen/
On this site it is stated, too.

Since I found it nowhere else, I posted it on airpower.at.
    Question:
    Answer from Martin Rosenkranz:
Das Gerücht mit Finnland hällt sich beständig – die Finnen sagen es ist nicht wahr – unlogisch klingts nicht.
Was MICA angeht.

Hope you can read it without a crappy software translation…

I think the price will come down a little bit, or at least not rise for tranche 2. EADS made some affords for more efficiency, that’s the new job of Aloysius Rauen. And a German government spokesman(don’t remember the name:( ) said, they would suspect some concessions from the industry, according to the bad household situation.

    1. Why did the Typhoon ditch the French M-88 engine and develop a new one from scratch? If Typhoon is meant to build for Europe I don’t understand it.

    2. Comtemporary US aircraft fighters prefer to use double vertical tails if twin engines are used. Why typhoon doesn’t follow this doctrine? I’ve heard double vertical tails is better than a single coz it has a low RCS. Even JSF uses double tails despite it’s single engine. And Mig 1.44 is an another example.

    3. Will a naval version of Typhoon be developed in the future? England which is among the joint development nations has a couple of aircraft carriers. If a naval Typhoon will be built, how does the JSF which England may purchase in the future fit in?

    4. I’ve heard Pakistani often dream of purchasing Typhoon as their new high end aircraft fighters which can form a high-low mix with their future FC-1. Will Typhoon available for export?

    1. THE FRENCH decided to do it o their own.

    2. Originally it was designed with two fins. They were reduced to one fin because one has lower drag and weight.

    3. England will buy JSF for it’s new carriers. No naval EF needed.

4.German laws prohibit the export of weapons in crisis regions. We don’t sell Leopard 2 to Turkey, because of the human rights situation. And they are part of the NATO. We don’t sell submarines to Taiwan via USA, because of the conflict with China.
I don’t know if it is possible that Great Britain sells Typhoons they bought officially.
Rafale is in my opinion a more likely candidate. (If Pakistan can afford such an expensive weapon…)

As to saying HINDs weren’t reliable, how do you know exactly?

After the reunification, all former NVA aircraft were tested and rated at the WTD-61. After this evaluation, the Mi-24 were handed over to Poland and Hungary. This caused some hot discussions in Germany, because the Hind scored much better than the Bo-105. The main argument against the Hind where the high maintenance costs and the low availability during it’s service for the NVA. This argument was requested, since the GDR bought 24 new Mi-24P, delivered 1989/90, and those with the bad maintenance record where the ‘old’ Mi-24D. So, many publications especially in magazines from eastern Germany, for example ‘Flieger Revue’.

I am not sure about the Apache, but it’s very slow and not very manouverable, we’ve seen how it performed in Iraq, out of 33 hits only 3 were in mission ready status the next day, the rest were either shot down, written off or need heavy repair.

I wouldn’t see this so negative. They were all heavy damaged, but nearly all of them brought their crew back in one peace.

Mi-28 cannot be called unproven, at least not for its vital systems such as engines, rotors, transmission etc. These were transferred from Mi-24 and further developed (X-shaped tail rotor, new main rotor composite head a la Mi-35M, improved filter system, improved engine performance etc.).

That’s why I’m not so impressed of the Mi-28. In Eastern Germany, we had Hinds, too. They were not very reliable. If this is better in the new machine, great. What I like is the compartment for troops in the Mi-28. This maybe useful for special operations.

The Tiger is in my opinion more a heavy armed scout and anti-tank-platform, not an AH.

I think the Apache is the best of the contemporary AH’s. It was impressive how many hits they survived in Iraq. Mi-28 and Ka-50/52 maybe even better, but what is known about their combat effectiveness under combat conditions ?

I think the commonality is not high enough. If it would be possible to operate both with the same infrastructure, it would make sense. Future cooperations for an AESA, IRST-sensor, engine, APU and so on would make both cheaper. I don’t believe this will happen.

NVM I got it mixed up with the new An-70, oops, but anyways AN-70 is probably the BEST Medium Transport aircraft in the World currently, we’ll see how A400M will due.

Yep, would have been the better choice. And faster available. At 50 mn $ a damn nice peace of hardware.

QUOTE]AN-72’s quoted price is around 35mn[/QUOTE]

I found prices around 1,5-2,5 for used ones and 8,5 mn for new AN-74 in the ASW version. The transport should be even cheaper.

What the hell do you want to transport with the An 124 ?
The whole Army of Kyrgyzstan at once ?
I don’t know how many large airstrips are in Kyrgyzstan. I assume there are not that many.
Austria, a country in similar size has only 3 Hercs. And the Austrian GDP is a bit higher than that of Kyrgyzstan. They considered even the Il-78 as too expansive. And the An 124 has much higher running costs. The price is not the problem, the UAE paid 40 mn $ for their An 124 -100.
The Mi-26 has an cargo compartment in equal dimensions to the Hercules, and it is able to land nearly everywhere. The maximum capacity is 20t internal or external.
    Standart payload:
    80+ Troops or
2x BRDM-2 scout cars, or 2x BMDs, or
    1x BMP or,
    1x BTR-60/70/80 or,
    1x MT-LB
Price is believed to be between 10-12 mn $
