I don’t dispute that Serbia is better off with MiG-21, but is is impractical. There is a large vacuum for fighters in that class, which is why I think a modern F-5 derivative with an F125 engine is a good filler for struggling economies.
In other words Serbia should get JF-17
Russians have a strong sentimental bond with Serbia, very different from it’s relationship with Poland.
Ukrainians are very Slavic too, but where’s that uber bond? :diablo:
I don’t see Russians rushing out to the Bulgarians or Macedonians either.
Are we still playing this interceptor game? Wing area is approximately 68,69 m^2 (length 19.36m, satellite pictures and J-10 length without pivot tube). The aircraft, if scaled from the F-35C, is about 30,400kg loaded.
This comes out to 440kg/m^2 wing loading.
It looks a bit high, but then you have to note that the Chinese don’t really seem to get sustained turn rates and many of their aircraft tend to have high wing loadings. It’s not necessarily a bad thing; the YF-23 had better wing loading, thus better sustained turn rates, than the YF-22, and was rejected for having poor instantaneous turn rates. Same applies to LCA Tejas; it looks as though it should be ridiculously maneuverable due to sub-300 wing loadings, but it’s actually a clunker due to being delta-winged without LEVCONs or canards.
what about the wing loading of the F-14
Serbia is majority Slav. Russia will never let Sino influence permeate Serbia. They will sooner gift them MiG-29s than allow them to acquire JF-17.
Poland is also majority Slav and they’re buying American
Perhaps it would be best for Serbia to buy squadron of MiG-21 Bison from India as they are looking to phase them out by 2014.
It should not be expensive, easy to maintain, lots of spare parts and lots of qualified people already in the place.
It would also give Serbian AF capability to use modern weapon systems like R-73, R-77, LGB’s and so on. It comes with sort of modern cockpit and modern A-A and A-G radar and thy can use all the A-A weapons in current Serbian AF inventory like R-60, 27.
Not latest in technology, but hey, beggars cannot be choosers.
doesn’t Serbia already have MiG-21s? cant they just send it to Russia for the same upgrades?
MiG-21 bisons should provide an edge over Serbia’s current MiG-29 force.
Indians confirm that MiG-29KUB landed on Vikramaditya, piloted by no other than Putin himself
Israel wins right to put Israeli stuff in F-35. Proclaims that the Kosher F-35 is best variant

They call them Hellducks now do they? Don’t the Ukrainians offer a destroyer called Gayduck?
As long as they don’t start calling a weapon system deadduck, I don’t see why not…
Do not underestimate the Ukranian ship… it will get you from behind when you least expect it
so based on the results of exercises
Typhoon = F-22
Rafale > Typhoon
does this mean Rafale > F-22? :diablo:

Im still curious to see what it is as it seems much to big to be just a trainer.
Chinese airplanes tend to be big. See J-20, J-10, etc. probably an issue due to the types of Engines they use.
on the other hand.. why would a trainer need to have LO characteristics?
but then again that didn’t stop EADS

Another interesting point is that the RAF plans to replace the brand new Eurofighter that is still being produced (and is arguably yet to be developed to a definitive stage) with the F-35A.
What does this say about Eurofighter and in particular growth potential of the platform?
And will this announcement affect export potential (“Why should I buy this plane when one of it’s main operators is already looking to replace it.”)?
Might be reading too much into this. :p
it means what we suspected all along and what everyone (save for eurocanard fans) knew.. that there’s a clear generational divide between the Eurofighter and F-35 and its unfortunate the timing of the Eurofighter which came perhaps 10 years too late as its induction was during a time when 5th gen was speeding along already. The brits know that despite all the F-35s flaws, its a next gen aircraft.
This video is pretty self-explaining, the Viper pilot wildly checking his six o`clock the whole engagement time with the Mig always circling around his ass. Mig pilot with Darth Vader’s calmness and coldness, but sometimes pulling too much as you can hear the SOS-3 clicking sound, killing the F-16 several times just by looking at it. Then suddenly Viper pilot is cheering for something, LOL. I think it is bcs Mig pilot yelled over the radio Bingo fuel. :D:D:D
thats pretty much why Ethiopian Flankers pounded Eritrean Fulcrums in their derriers. They caught them retreating turning back to base due to bingo fuel. But now Eritrea has Flankers as well.
I doubt that would be the case. The French are very good at providing post purchase support to their customers.
it is the case because France is sensitive to China’s concerns and are unwilling to risk that relation to provide further support for Taiwan.
Yes it does give an FoxBat, FoxHound feel..
Interesting, and quite revealing Airframe/wing proporsions.Nice work MSphere
Harvey, you are right again! when comparing the size of the crew next to the airplane, J-20 seems to be roughly as big as the MiG-31

that drawing is not accurate, the J-20 cockpit is way too narrow and small. if you enlarged it to the same size as the F-22 cockpit, it would be bigger
if J-20 cockpit is same size as F-22
