It’s still funny today because people like you who bring up how fanboys are wrong. I know you just don’t want it expose how you all made even a more embarrassing error. I know… if I didn’t bring it up you would look like you had a perfect record of being right. Talk about bitter… :diablo:

Embarrassing error such as what? I’m not the fanboy who claimed there was AESA in the early 2002 pictures.

Rafale and Eurofighter over MiG-29?

not so ridiculous but I know they are a bit different as they are smaller and lighter than the MiG-29

As is AMX vs Su-25.

From Phantom II:
The Su-25 series can’t be used as an interdictor namely because of its speed. The AMX may not carry as heavy a warload, but it’s much faster than the Su-25.

It is better suited for high altitude flight, which means less fuel consumption therefore giving decent range.

It also has the advantage of radar. Until the Su-39 gets a huge export order, the Kopyo isn’t really something to be bragging about. It also causes a good drag penalty, therefore further reducing the speed of the Frogfoot.

Simply put, if you want close air support, frontlines kinda stuff, then go for the Frogfoot, but if you want an overall more versatile attack aircraft, then go for the AMX.

I think the only real problem with the AMX is the engine. Why they don’t put something like the EJ-200 in is beyond me. It would be a perfect addition and make the AMX an even better airplane than it is now.
“Youll notice most the countrys that have bought the Su-25/39 are african countrys that fight non-mechanized insurgents or border conflicts. As Ive said its impervious to small arms fire, so its perfect for that. But if you want to talk about it being a good strike fighter, or doing CAS on a battlefield with AA, then no, its really a waste. Most countrys in the world use trainers for the secondary role of CAS as CAS is unimportant in more developed countrys. And they will buy specialized strike aircraft if they feel the need as a jet like the Su-25/39 would be useless against well defended targets and enemy aircraft. The AMX is a specialized strike jet, and has everything you would want to survive against an well equiped apponant.”

How about MiG-29 over Mirage 2000?

Mirage 2000 of coarse. early MiG-29’s only advantage was its agility.

I don’t see how the F1 is favored over the MiG-23 either.

Avionics, SARH capabilities

Bah, why am I even responding to this absurd thread.

you are attracted to Chinese people

Are you sure?

no I am not. Pak-fa might change this as Nicky said.

but looking at historical comparisons it tended to favor European designs for example:

Mirage 3 and Draken over MiG-21
Viggen and Mirage F.1 over Flogger
Tornado ADV and Tornado IDS over MiG-23,27 and Su-24 (only inferior in range)
Rafale and Eurofighter over MiG-29
probably argueable AMX over Su-25 (different approaches to the same problem)
C235 over An-26

China # 2?

You wouldn’t think from their serious lack of aircraft in many performance categories (no, the J-20 does not change that) , or their international market penetration (or lack of it).

The number 2 aerospace industry would not need foreign engines to power half of its “domestic” aircraft.

Another dumb thread by the resident Chinabot.

Also, why is Russia expected to compete with over 700 million Europeans and all of their collective economies?

you don’t need the entire Europe, just the ones with aviation industries that count: France, UK, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Poland, Czech Republic, and to some extent, Netherlands, Denmark, and Spain. That’s about 300 million right thur or double Russia’s population.

And to some one’s comment about Russia being European, its not. Russia is its own category. Eurasian. Most of its landmass is in Asia, but most of its people is in Europe so its both.

Wikipedia says the 365 is the civilian version and the 565 is the militarized version but how is the 565 the militarized version when the 365 is already used for military purposes 😮

btw nice helicopter but French planning on a replacement? its a bit long in the tooth.

Bitter? I was laughing. Cuz you know it’s so true.

probably funny if it was 2010. But this is 2012. People have moved on and we are interested in the radome changes of this latest J-20. Only bitter people cling onto the past. Now please, go and take that crap of a movie called Tron Legacy with you.

My money is on the Foxhound getting the boot!
As the Flanker is a more versatile multi-role platform, compared to the specialised Interceptor role of the Foxhound. And I assume the Flanker is a much more cost effective to both fly and maintain!

Pioneer

sure if your air force wanted to standardize on one fixed wing fighter..
but choice might not be so clear if you had two or more types.

We got sth new…

It looks like that Chengdu is showing their tech to human

Someone said that this is 2002 instead of 2003. It hasn’t flight for a while and changed a lot.

this should change all those fan boys who were insistent 2002 had a radar in it because of the pitot tube relocation.

this J-20 looks more likely than the 2002 to have a radar. and it looks much better with a different color radome.

The developer had no prior fast jet developing experience, and India lacks the industrial sophistication to supply parts for it.

HAL should have had a foreign tech consultant to help them out, because the foreign tech consultant could spot problems that HAL couldn’t.

um, Hal Marut and a jillion license build aircraft.

Grey nose? maybe that one will be implanted with a radar soon.
looks like they are catching up to the number of prototype airframes with the Russians.

India to train Indonesian Sukhoi pilots and HAL will likely get a maintenance contract to support their Sukhoi fleet
link

India will then get first hand knowledge on China’s MKK variant since the Indonesian version is basically the same.

It does make a difference if you want to intercept anything reasonably fast

where are pictures of Mig-31s intercepting stuff?
there’s no shortage of Tornado ADV, Tomcats or F-106 intercepting foreign aircraft.

I did some reading on each T-X bidder’s spec and only the T-50 meets the KPP as i t stands. The KPP requires 6.5 G sustained turn, and only the T-50 has this. M-346’s figure is 5.5 G max, and Hawk would be lower than M-346’s figure.

In other word, the M-346 requires an airframe modification while the T-50(The USAF proposed model is actually said to be a customized F/A-50 with an F414 engine) can meet the requirements as is.

Edit : I forgot about the Gripen trainer. The Gripen too would meet this requirement, making this a T-50 vs Gripen showdown.

M-346 is not being entered, the T-100 is. Its based on the M-346
Gripen Trainer highly unlikely
however since we’re in that line of thinking.. Tejas two seater should be fine, it even uses an American engine
