got the answer from defence ministry. they havent got an offer from swedes. maybe they still thinking about offering them to baltics.
im pretty sure it was when the ruskies sent a bear to farnbourgh or fairford, heres another……or the tornado crew forced the bear down……i wonder if that ever happend for real….
i think there was airshow.maybe they just played interception for the crowd 😉 .
heres a few ive found…..
when did the last photo was made? i think it is post cold war photo (russian national flag on tu-95).
index, you might want to know that one right wing party (Folkpartiet) and a politician from a left/middle wing party (miljopartiet) today have declared that they wish to supply some of these Gripens to the Baltic States. They were actually speaking of giving them away for free.

And regarding tinwings BS about A/B Gripens not being multirole – go read up on history boy. They are called JAS for a reason.
Cliff
i wrote question to our ministry of defence about that. waiting for answer…
if they donate us that gripens that would be good for both sides. we would get our own air defence fighters, they would get money for spares. i believe our government will accept this deal.
Cheap to buy is a simple idea to digest, but who can guarantee cheap post sales support? Especially with a smaller and smaller fleet in operation…
The US aircraft manufacturers (Boeing & Lockheed) political lobbying units in Congress would never let the USAF or US Navy buy foreign fighters once again… What can the Gripen do that the current F-16s in inventory can’t? Nothing.
A localized Gripen C/D might do wonders for HAL in the place of the flagging LCA. Can anyone imagine the results of crossbreeding the Su-30MKI with an Indian developed Gripen?
Does anyone here really think that if France wasn’t able to resist Red Chinese pressure against further sales of M2000 to Taiwan that Sweden might? Hardly!
Forget this possibility! It isn’t going to happen! 😉Comments?
our relationship with swedes i quite good. their supproting our military. like donating AK-4’s, carl-gustav’s, BV-206 and providing spares for them.
we don’t need ground atack role. what we need now is cheap fighter for air policing. it should replace L-39ZA in that role, because it is too slow and too poorly armed. and i think they would be better than second hand F-16A/B’s (we can’t buy F-16C/D’s , because their too expensive for our little country) , because their brand new and has a lot of more flying hours.
will they sell this gripens for a simbolic price ? maybe 10 millions per unit? then, i think, our government would buy few.
Can’t help wondering…..how effective is that camo given Iraq’s landscape? I mean LARGE PATCHES OF GREEN, DARK SAND & BROWN?
Those machines stick out like a sore thumb in the desert! 😡 Well, if they (either the US or Iraqi AF) had wondered how the IAF Mi-17s should be coloured, I felt they sould have just restrict to one color – Light Sand overall.
agree. it should look liek these iraqi Hueys :
.
but camo of this Mi-8 is beautiful 😉 .
cuban camo :

Heh’. Case closed! 🙂
But you do make a good point.
Why does that MiG-29 have a US flag both on the fuselage/wings and on the “Fulcrum Farewell USA 2003” logo at the fin? Did the US take over some of the ex-German Fulcrums, and this is sorta like a symbolic gimic?
“Red flag”… look at the tail of second picture of luftwaffe MiG’s. it’s the same plane.
i think one of the gratest camo is this german MiG-29’s :

also ukrainian su-27 and MiG-29 :

why do they by this two very similar aircraft? it should be very expensive to operate both…
in northern Lithuania i often see many PZL Wilgas (most of them are civilian 😉 ) .
sometimes mi-8 , L-39. and most interesting thing 😎 : i saw luftwaffe f-4 , when they protected our skies.
is there mosquitos in second post’s fourth photo?
Is this polish MiGs-29 based in the Zokniai airport? I see our (Lithuanian) L-39 in the picture.
