Excellent photo report of the project 21631 Uglich.
nice. especially the closeup of the Kalibr VLS. Seems cold launch to me, using explosive charge as gas generator instead of High pressure gas bottle found in S-300 family.
the area rules looks fine to me. The waisted section lines perfectly with the maximum wingspan.
Hell yeah.. time to enter heavy engine area. Those AN-124 and future generation of Russian heavy lifters are bound to need a new engine soon.
Is there anything in the public domain on S-300 radar modes that illustrates the sort of information you are looking for?
None so far. However there are some interesting IEEE papers that i got on the design of S-300 radar suites.
I hosted them on my scribd :3
https://www.scribd.com/document/275319467/Recent-Developments-in-Russian-Radar-Systems
https://www.scribd.com/document/275316116/History-of-Russian-Monopulse-Radar-by-Leonov
The philosophy of Russian phased array design.
https://www.scribd.com/document/289047418/Survey-of-Russian-Low-Cost-Phased-Array
All those papers however are from 1990’s clearly, some of the contents might no longer relevant today. Especially for the newer system as S-400.
God Whyyy.
what i wish i could see is discussion about array technology in S-400 or whether S-400 still use high PRF (Up to 100 kHz) burst.
what i want to see in MiG-31BM3 is return of 1.4m diameter Zaslon-M array :3
The PS-05 brochure is very informative. Except that “X” distance.
Ahh, found the specs for the Raduga-Sh of Mi-24V.. As said, no night vision..

straight from the scrapfolder of my deviant art XD
I found this image of the system
anyway, should the IR channel allow pilot to see target at night ? ( like how A-10 pilot sometimes use AGM-65 )does that thing lack TV channel too ?
Doubt it.
If it does have such ability. Russia would not develop or offer Zarevo sight. Or just entirely replace raduga with more modern GOES.
Mi-24V with GOES, notice that raduga sight is no longer in place.

Zarevo

So in short, those early Mi-25 and Mi-35 for export, lacks thermal imaging or nightvision ability.
I dont know for sure what equipment Syrian has but isnt the thing on bottom left a FLIR system ? No ?
Nope The raduga SH system is basically an ATGM sight for guiding Ataka. It does have Ir channel but that for tracking inflight beacon of the ATGM’s.
Why?, it is still a thermal system is it not?
It does not have TV Channel. It’s not image target. The IRST operator cannot really see what he really shootin at just like radar.
It’s rarely mentioned though that there are actually differences between IRST and a FLIR. The former does not really need TV channel as it task is to determine angular position of target. Frame rate wise there also differences where IRST can have slower frame rate of 10-15 FPS while FLIR need to do as good as our TV set at 60 FPS.
Only recent OLS-35 have TV channel.
Two Chinese C-705 missiles failed on firing test during Indonesian Navy exercise. Not good conditions for further procurement contracts.
Janes spinning stuff…
First of all there’s only 1 ship launching. the KRI Celurit. and it’s not misfire but rather mis coordination. Our president count down way too early.. 5 minutes before the ship commander order launch. and well everyone onboard listen to ship commander.

Integral characteristics effective area reflecting of target. effective area reflecting / эффективная площадь рассеивания (ЭПР) – RCS
What’s at the Y axis ? Frequency ?
just curious.. Any new news on the N036 AESA ?
What was the RCS requirement at the time A-12 or SR-71 developed ? If it met that requirement then..it can be considered stealth.
